    John, there are two rubber grommets in the front of the cover as you stated spaced near vertically. The secret is to pull the cover in the same position it lies on the bike. The grommet pins are perpendicular to the frame and mounted on the Oil Tank. Edited 6/18/08 Credit to Bruce59 : Spraying the grommets...
