Edited: A special thanks to the following members for their help or forum postings that made this a reality: Kroozn2, RaySDF250, metrickkruzer , Jabo, JoeH, Megawatt, BrazeauRacing, DarkStar and 357Warrior's super human powers to help me remove the front pulley nut that i had torqued to 120 lb~ft...

The Metzler 240/40 @ 40psi doesn't flex 1/8" when mounted to a 18 x 8.5 weld-up Warrior wheel. I have a nickels worth of clearance, if that, on my DIY swingarm without any rubbing and well over 6000 miles and no chicken strip either [ ] [ ] Side wall flexure has a lot to do with tire construction...

IMO, if the Swingarm is modified properly you shouldn't have to change to a 31T front pulley to resolve the tire or wheel clearances if running the Metzler 240 with a 18" x 8 1/2" wide wheel. Based on my recent DIY 240 mods using the following components: Metzler 240/40VR18 Kosman weld...

Although the price is right, fit & visual quality is superb on the 8 1/2" rim and to boot Pirelli owns Metzler, the composition is way to soft and you'll go through the tread quickly! I don't recommend this New Pirelli Diablo - 240/40ZR18 spend the xtra for the Metzler [ ]
