i got new exhaust (Shogun Ground Pounders) and i hated all that chrome. so i took off the heat shields and wrapped them in 2" black exhaust wrap, leaving only the tips unwrapped. but then, after the fact, i heard a horror story about exhaust wrap. a couple people told me about "a buddy of theirs" that had wrapped pipes that became rusted pipes with holes in them after a short time, because of the moisture held in by the wrapping. does anybody know
As I said on the first page, it took just 6 months on my Land Cruiser. 6 months or 4 years, either is to soon for me. I won't use wrap on any exhaust. Did you park it outside where it was subject to lots of rain without the bike running?
it is parked in the garage mostly, but does see some rain from time to time. i do a lot of long overnighters and i ride in the rain sometimes. i agree with you though, i won't use the wrap again. pipes cost too much

i pulled the old sensor out, brought it up to the dealer and laid it on the parts guy's desk. i said "this bike obviously isn't moving and it's 30 minutes away. you could tow it or just give me the parts." and he didn't even blink, he just said "sure, just leave me the broken one."

I WAS WRONG. i admit it. once i got the new re-designed sensor from my local Yami dealer i realized vibration was the problem. Upon further inspection of my old sensor, the solder was fine, the wire had snapped off at the base of the solder. anyway, once i got the new one in, everything's honky-dory.

My 2005 has 30k miles on it, and the CPS failed for the 4th time this weekend! My dad is a welder by trade, and runs an HVAC company in AZ. He seems to think that it is due to a design flaw. He says that since the wires are soldered on and emersed in hot oil, the solder gets too warm and the wires basically drift away from the posts due to constant vibration. His theory makes sense to me because every time it has failed, i have been on a long trip- where i have been riding 700-1000 miles in one day

i ran mine with samson shogun groundpounders without baffles- was loud as F**K, but noticable loss of performance. i ended up putting standerd samson baffles in them. i also used a power commander though. sorry, dont know much about the ecu bump.

i know if i over fill my tank, gas comes out the tube that runs down the frame. this makes me think that this tube acts like a vent and any pressure would naturally push it's way out that tube as well. i dont think it would matter if you had a non vented cap, because pressure escapes elsewhere. just my guess though, anyone want to prove me wrong?
