Great question Old Man, preignition or detonation that you hear is the result of a cylinder igniting before TDC. The piston is actually rattling in the bore. This is a slow death to a performance motor. All the bearings get hammered and the rings take a beating also. As for the long stroke, it seems to me that the longer stroke will intake more fuel to burn for the descending journey down (assuming the cam is not a negative factor. More fuel will lengthen the burn time. Octane would be much less

Below is a pretty good description of the events that happen during detonation. The charge is ignited early (because of various events) and the resulting early combustion momentarily tries to stop the piston before TDC resulting in the ping you hear. Off The Clock By Rebecca Dudley News-Tribune Editor/Publisher My exhusband had this annoying habbit of bringing greasy old carburetorsand things into the house to work on. So last week when my friend called me to tell me this story, my first response was "Where does this guy live?" Now reassured that I was not related to him by marriage, this is too hilarious not to share. The way my friend told it, this guy pushed his motorcycle from the patio into the living room, where he began to clean

Your posts are really incredible. I guess I'm a "religious loon" by your standards, but for the life of me I cannot remember any Imminent lawless action I have incited lately. I don't know how old you are, (nothing in your bio) but you reason like a 15 year teenager. And I might add you're about as naive.
Let's not trade freedom for comfort.
There must be some degree of safety (comfort) or there can be no freedom. There is no such thing as complete safety in a free society, but citizens do have a right to a reasonable expectation of safety and if this means profiling, I have no argument with that. Extreemism is the enemy of all people, weather it be in religion, police work or any other endevor. If the only pace you can be safe is your own home, and that's
