Wow. Thank you all. These first few posts encompass a lot of experience. Please feel free to share your experience too. Just highlight the top post with your mouse and copy it, then paste it into your "REPLY TO TOPIC" and insert your data.

Maybe you'd be so kind as to pass the word around so there's as much info on as many different rear tires as possible because this kind of archived 'inside info' is hard to beat when it comes time to invest in a new tire!

Thanks to AlanH I noticed something else about the tire. Although it still has 3mm of tread in the center the TWI markers on the outside edge have been worn completely thru on one side and almost completely gone on the other so the edges of the tire are in worse shape/wears faster than the middle.

Re: Rear Tire 2008 Survey (Results)

I might have been confused. On the tire we have now, do you want the rating as it sits now with the mileage and tread or the average? The reason I ask is right now handling is starting to fade away with over 8000 miles but it used to be a great handling tire. Still is OK with 8200 miles on it.

    h. Handling on Freeway (1=weak 2=acceptable 3=excellent):3

I purchased the bike used in Dec 2006 with 5530 miles on it. The rear tire had beek replaced recently so I can't give you a summary of the previous wear. I can, however, tell you that this is my second Dunlop Elite 3 rear 240. The previous one needed to be replaced due to a cut in the tire. I had ridden it over 4000 miles and it still had plenty of tread left.

    God first . . . . . . . . always!
