Has anyone tried modifying one to fit a custom shifter rod?

The short one is for the brake rod.

There is an ebay vendor that is currently selling a 5" extension.  Anyone tried these?

This post is almost 4 years old. I have the 3" extensions which work great and look good with no problems. I've heard one other guy say the 5" kit sticks out too far and doesn't look good on the bike. Don't know i've never seen the 5" kit on a warrior.

Someone else has talked about this lately and said that the 5" break or something like that.

Ive had the 5inch extensions on my bike for about a year now and i love them no problems at all..... i used lock tite on the mounting bolts and just made sure everything else was real tight

The 5" are not for folks with short legs!

Heck the 3" are not for short legs.  As long as I am using my Corbin DT seat then I am fine.  The stock seat is another story all together.  I am 5' 7"
