I wish I knew about this on Saturday. I was in Birmingham visiting my girlfriends brother. We left Sunday morning....

Dont know how much I would have been able to do, but it may have been worth going out to take a look at the house.

What! That is just sorry police work. All they have to is swear out a warrant for this guys arrest and have the locals pick him up. Its his car so let him prove that he was not the driver. They have proable cause all they need to do swear out a warrant, and fax a copy to the locals and that is it. I guarantee to you if he was not the driver he will tell who the driver is.

We have a lot of Alabama registered cars here, I'm told it's because alabama doesn't require insurance. They said the only way to get him is to find the car here. They did say they put a felony arrest warrant under that plate number so if he gets pulled over for anything they will arrest him. But that's not good enough.

It's like they are just lazy....and this is the Florida state troopers, not local cops since it happened in the county and not the city.

Here's the info on the car owner, taken right off the police report I got:

Jack E Mitchell Jr. 928 Berkley DR Pell City, Alabama. Seems like they could have an Alabama cop go there and find out who was driving, Tell them it was involved in a felony and if they don't give a name and address they will go to jail. It's probably a friend or family member of the guy that was driving, He did't look like a tourist, looked like he was going to work on a construction site.

When I get better, I'm going to start watching that route in the am to see if I can catch him going to work.

Thinking about getting a lawyer to see if they can find him.

Man I would be pissed. Especialy after he came back for the mirror. I bet if he'd have sold somebody a joint the police would hunt him down like a dog.
Well I hate to say it BUT in Canada the guy would have been charged long ago and EVERYBODY has to have insurance.

It took some community pressure but the police are working with Alabama to check out the registered owners address. The state police actually had to call me back and ask me again for the description of the driver...It wasn't anywhere in their report, that's how interested in finding him they were.

sorry to hear about this dude, i hope you stay on top of them to catch this person and make his sorry butt pay up.

Well, the local cycling club is making sure i get plenty of attention, still havent caught the guy though.

Went to the opthopedic surgeon yesterday, he said I'll have surgrery on the 17th. he's going to have to implant a metal disc in my elbow to replace the shattered socket. also, he will have to open my wrist to align the bone and repair the tendon damage. He told me flat out that I will likely always have pain and mobolity problems with the elbow. not good to hear.

I was on the front page of our local paper AND, just got off the phone with our local talk radio.

Calling a lawyer today, the doc scared me with the fact that I'll have problems forever.
