The Ultimate RS Warrior Ping Stop!

Here is a little writeup on a mod that will cure the high compression ping of any Warrior:

Ask 357Warrior about his Warrior feels after this recent mod.

nice work, but doesn't this sorta lower the compression ratio some?

It corrects it to the level you can run on 92 Octane. When the engine pings it makes less power AND will damage your engine. This mod will make the most power out of all ping mods, except for race gas. Lower compression - yes - just a touch but also more displacement - just a touch as well. Its a fraction on compression and a fraction on displacement. Ask 357Warrior if you have any doubts...

I had some ping problems. My simple solution was adding fuel where it pinged..
    ALL GONE now..
Some custom mappers , don't know what they are doing , like the certified dyno jet guy that did mine

No leak problems with these gaskets. It even works on the turbo with 25psi of boost.

More fuel really just hides the problem at the cost of power and economy. In some cases the gains with HC pistons evaporate pretty fast if you have to run the engine rich like that.

I spend a lot of time on this forum feeling dumb as hell. I have no idea what you all are talking about, but it sounds interesting. I have done no internal mods to my warrior, so I guess it does not effect me.

    Thanks.
    Enjoy life!!!

I am not an elite super mechanic; I don#%92t understand half of what I#%92m doing or why it works. But, the half I do understand I#%92ve learned here. Thank you Frankenstein for taking the time to raise my Motorcycle IQ. Now if you can answer this question and push my knowledge to 50.01% I#%92d be grateful.

I was planning on following the S* route to avoid problems like this. Will the yammi kit, with the 10.2:1 forged pistons also introduce this pinging?

I am looking at going this route also. When I tear down my motor for the HC pistons you're saying that I will need just one stage IV gasket kit plus two extra head gaskets? or will I need to double ALL the gaskets, meaning two complete gasket kits? Thanks for being smarter than me Oliver!!(of course that dosen't take much) I just want to do it right the first time. Thanks again...

    Excellent technical write-up, Frankenstein [^] [:)]

    Here's a good thread on fxstein's site to read:http://starvmax.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=27&func=view&id=476&catid=32&limit=10&limitstart=40

BTW and for the record, the pinging problem could not be resolved by mapping and or an octane booster! edited: and the Speed* ECU!

Re: The Ultimate RS Warrior Ping Stop!

Okay so just a stupid question here.... what exactly makes the Warrior so prone to pinging anyway?

My buddy has a Triumph Sprint and which runs 12.0:1 compression and he runs straight pump gas throughout the hot TX summers and doesn't have one single problem. And my V-Strom is 11.3:1 and again I run nothing but 87 in it all year round.

In no way am I saying that the pinging isn't there on the Warrior or isn't a real problem. I was just wondering why on other bikes with way higher compression it's not a problem. Is the the whole liquid cooling vs. air cooling? I know heat has quite a bit to do with it, but I didn't think this much.

Based on my understanding of engines ... yes ... it's a big factor

So let me get this straight... High compression causes pinging. So you lower the compression and the pinging goes away. Who'd have thunk!?!? [:P]
