    HI Guys!

Did contact Yamaha on the last "revision" and they confirmed that the upgrade was done. Strange they did not place the mark that time, but i have to trust them, right? ;)
After making the confirmation by phone to Yamaha head-quarters they did place the mark on the chassis number.

So, there goes the chance to change the 5th gear!
Anyway i just found ill make about 2-3k miles per year which is nothing, so i will not feel any difference on the fuel consumption!!!

My bike is definitively the US 2003 model. The documents say 2004 but thats the year of registration, not the manufacture year.

    Cheers,

    TM

Re: Titanium Warrior 2004 Europe (2002 US model)

european models have one of the following identification marks (mostly because of the tight german restrictions):

headlight with additional position light bulb
red taillight with bulb (not led)
front turnsignals not wired as running lights and different turnsignallenses with "e"-approval sign
    no automatic turnsignal reset
    different horns (wtf?).

when my bike was delivered to the dealer, he got a europe-kit to install before delivery to the client (me). thank god he asked me what to change and what not. so my bike kept it's led-taillight.

if your bike really is a US-import and not one of the official european bikes it should not have any of the mentioned marks. if it is a european model, every yamaha-dealer has to do the recall work at no cost for you.
Life may be hard but the alternative sucks!

Re: Titanium Warrior 2004 Europe (2002 US model)

    Hello!

This is an old thread but I need some help. Bought a Warrior few months ago. I´m located in Sweden and this Warrior (25000 miles on it) is imported from Germany. I got the red tail light, no automatic turnsignal reset function so I guess this is an european Warrior. It´s registered as a 2004 Warrior but I´m positive it´s a 2003 version.

    Some questions:

    * No automatic turnsignal reset - can I make this start working again?

    * I don´t know if the tranny recall is done, called a Swedish Yamaha dealer but he wouldn´t help me because it´s imported from Germany. Should I contact Yamaha Europe or Yamaha Germany maybe?

    Thanks,

    /Lars

Hi Lars, regarding the recalls you should contact Yamaha Sweden if it exists and tell them what you need. As far as I know Yamaha changed its ridiculous recall system and now they must do all the recalls irrespectively of the bikes origin. Due to this change they must know whether the recalls have already done on your bike or not. By checking the VIN they can also tell you where is your bike from. The automatic turnsignal reset is not even familiar however my bike (2004) is from the US so I can't help you with this, but if you get the answer I'd like to know the trick. J Cheers (and happy new year),

    Elek

    Hello Elek!

Seems like Yamaha Scandinavia refers to their resellers, I´ll try some other Yamaha reseller than the last one. Least I know they changed the rules for the recalls. Swedish bike dealers doesn´t like the private imported bikes (like from Germany) because they lose money - so they usually don´t help you if you have problems.

Just to clearify, my turn signals doesn´t auto cancel -  I would like to enable this feature.

    Happy new year!

    /Lars

hey lars, auto-cancel isn't enabled in european models and i don't know how to do that. you may check the wiring diagram because the switch and the relay stayed the same. I guess that they just modified the wiring. if you have problems with the recall-stuff: send me your frame-no (or make a picture including any markings). and i'll ask at yamaha-central germany in neuss. they are just 4km from my house. timo

Hi Timo! I´ll look into the wiring for the auto cancel feature, maybe they just disconnected some of the wires to disable it?

I will call some other swedish Yamaha dealers next week about the recall. If they still wont help me, I´ll would be very happy if you could help me out!

    Thanks Timo!

I don't have a wiring diagram for a European bike so I don't know if anything is different from USA, however on the USA bikes the flasher auto-cancel feature is supported by this combination of parts.  The OEM flasher with auto-cancel circuit is:

    FB257H (DENSO) 75~95 flashes a minute with auto-cancel, 23w x2 plus 3.4w

Here's the USA model OEM wire positions in the plug:

Here's the USA OEM flasher unit:

If you discover the European flasher unit is a different part number please post that info okay?

Excellent link! I´ll verify the type of the flasher next time I´m at garage where my bike is.

    Thanks Arizona Warrior!

I checked the flasher relay on my european Warrior. There was a 5 pin plug, but it only had 3 wires connected (and the 5 pin plug wasn´t connected to anything). Two of the "missing" wires (the brown and brown/white wires) were connected to a 2 pin flasher relay marked "FE218BH, 066500-4010, 12.8V 85C/M, T/S 10Wx2, H/W 10W max4bulbs". So I guess, to get the self-canceling feature to work I need to get a 5 pin flasher and reconnect the brown/brown-white wires back to the 5 pin connector.

Will try to get a picure of it next time.

Your installed 2-pin electronic flasher is an OEM Denso part used for NON-self cancelling signal lights on other Yamaha models such as the YZF-R1, etc.

As you stated, "to get the self-canceling feature to work I need to get a 5 pin flasher and reconnect the brown/brown-white wires back to the 5 pin connector"

    • Very specifically, you'll need to install the proprietary 5-pin Denso flasher used on the Road* or Warrior models that is designed to work with the Turn signal switch hardware logic.

Keep in mind that the current 2-pin flasher is electronic and not load sensitive. If you're running LED turn signals you'll need to make adjustments to the flash rate when reverting back!

Lars, since the 5-pin plug wasn't connected to anything, do you think someone 'borrowed' your 5-pin Denso flasher befrore you brought the bike home, or do you think all '04 Euro-Warriors are shipped in tha condition?  Its just odd the 5-pin plug was there but un-used. That 5-pin Denso flasher is a little expensive and I was worried you'd buy one, plug it in, and it might or might not work.  I hope you'll let me know!

Re: Titanium Warrior 2004 Europe (2002 US model)

Arizona Warrior, I changed my red tail light to a LED one the other day. And it´s looks like someone has been messing with the rear turn signals before (wires/installation didn´t look original). My guess is that the previous owner (I bought the bike used) had LED blinkers installed, changed the flasher and left it like that when bike was sold (but only took off the LED blinkers).

Just noticed timoken mentioned (earlier in this thread) that the EU warrior has the same 5 pin flasher installed.

I´m going to investigate it further.

Did you install the rear LED with a clear lens!!?

BTW when you shop for the Denso 5-pin, part# FB257H, use this search because the part is common to a number of bike brands:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=denso+fb257h

It's odd but sometimes a Kawi dealer (or aftermaket seller) will sell it for less, and sometimes if you buy the part to fit another Yami it costs less.  But be careful to double-check that it is the right part, but this opens-up the number of sources to buy from.
