    Forcewinder-Style intake workover (pics)

    hi folks,

as some of you said, the filter that i used in my last mod looked a bit too small for a 102 cui-engine.

so i got a bigger intake and a bigger filter (racing-foamfilter with wiring around it) and you've been right: it looks definitely better.

i did a short ride and the engine response is a bit crispier and revs up pretty easily. don't want to take it to autobahn when the engine is cold and we really have bad weather here so you have to wait for a fullspeed-test. it's around 35°F and they started putting salt on the streets. if they start salting i only ride if it's dry outside. hope you understand ;-)

here are some pics. futher pics in my updated profile.

Maybe you can black-out that mounting bracket and snorkle clamp and that filter looks like it belongs there from the factory... That's a very good looking set-up.

    Man timoken, that looks sweet!

On those clamps, could you rotate them were the screw part of the clamp is hid on the back side. Just a thought.
Your whole bike is looking good![:D]

Why not glue all those components together except the filter? Then you can lose two of the clamps. I found a flexible black epoxy when I had a similar setup. I like the look of that filter.

well, glue doesn't work. there's too much vibration. if the glue is to hard, it breaks. if the glue is too flexible, it ripps. i tried a few kinds of glue and nothing worked for a longer time (with a smaller setup that doesn't weight as much as this one). i like to fix the things with the turn of a screw when it may get loose. maybe the forces would be less if i turn the filter up. but here, everyone has an upturned filter on his roadie and i like the asymetric look.
it wouldn't even help me if you tell me the name of the black epoxy-glue. but where did you find it? what was it originally meant for?

that's easy. get the intake of a vstar 650, get an angle from an eaves gutter, get a airfilter that you like from the carshop and adjust your stock-ecu a bit (recommened).

the costs are around 20 bucks plus the can of paint. may you try to give it a silver, brushed look?

That came out sweeeeet. Looks like it came from the factory, very basic, very simple, very impressive.
