    This help some.

I hope this is the right forum, it kind of falls into different categories.

In previous posts I have read about people installing the billet decompression solenoid cover and it did not have the clearance to allow the plunger from the solenoid to come to full stroke. That made their bike hard to start. Some shimmed it with washers others would grind away part of the inside cover to allow for the needed area.

Today I installed one of these along with a billet cam cover. This works good. Install the decompression cover first then watch the solenoid plunger as you bump the starter. You have a clear view of the action if you do this step before installing the cam cover. I added a small washer under the cover at both bolts, and when then plunger extended fully, there was still more clearance. Remember install the decompression first watch the action, then install the cam cover.

    Hope this helps someone. [:)]

Jabo, the starting problem is more prevalent when the engine is HOT and components have expanded causing interference with the (CRC) compression release cover. I chose to machine my cover because of the lack of clearance with the V&H Big Shot. Here's some jpegs from a former post [;)]
Lots of press on this subject.
