    Spark Plug Readings-Appreciated

Have been running the V&H Big Shots for approx 8000 miles with the ECU @ +3 points and stock air box with Speed* filter.
HOW WOULD YOU RATE THESE PLUGS

    Re: Spark Plug Readings-Appreciated

Very good question. I'ii take a stab at it.
1.All plugs are on the rich side as indicated by the ring of soot on the base of the plug and into the first thread.
    2. The ground strap indicates a little too much heat for me I would use a slightle colder plug.
    3. The porcelain dosen't show any serious detonation, but right front and right rear seem to be a little hot to me.
Any way you got 10,000 miles from these plugs, that not too shabby.

    "I reckon so"

I would keep things as they are...
the right side would probably be burned a bit more, because it's righ over the Exhaust valve... hot gases are being forced over the plug on the exhaust stroke.
but that ain't a bad color

50 cents worth of free advice... You can't tell an awfull lot about mixture
from plugs that have been in that long. Put some new ones in and do a series of
"throttle chops" some calls it "plug chops". I will do one at cruise throttle,
and one at WOT for about 5 seconds. I'll read the idle mix from rolling through
the neighborhood and into my garage.

FRED hit it right on the head, saying your plugs show a bit rich. That's prolly
because you idled it up into your garage just before pulling the plugs.
Most engines idle a little smoother on the rich side so, you have the ECU just right.
One more thing I see with the second set (CO +3). Some time recently, you let her idle
(rich) long enough to load the plugs a little, then put some heat in the engine and
baked or fused some of the carbon. (The shiny blistered appearance of the deposits)
Not unusual, but you should remember not to let her idle for long periods.

What you CAN tell from the plugs in the photos is a generally healthy engine.
And that yer mechanic failed to use Anti-seize when installing the plugs. ;-)

They dont look that bad to me,slightly rich if anything, but like bladerunr sez could be caused by idling or cruise up to standstill. ......Frec.....U.K................

Don't F*ck with the Baldies cuz the Baldies don't f*ck. Don't forget to *Check out my gallery pics* and then rate my [RIDE] please.

What they said. Mine look about the same, with the SS ECU alone -not adjusted.

They look okay to me. Just FYI, don't remove/install plugs in aluminum heads when the engine is hot. Let it cool down. And the threads on most plugs are plated, making the anti-seize unnecessary. I believe the torque specs are without anti-seize.

Sash, just curious; why three of one kind and one of another?

Because I was checking the gap on the NGK plug and guess what,I broke the electrode on it[xx(] so I put the stock plug back until i got my new set of NGK plugs.
By the way what are you think of the plugs did they burn O.K or not.

Mix looks OK. I like the standard plug a lot more than the others. The 3 look to be hotter plugs. Suggest checking the heat range.

Hey Church, checking the heat range, what do you mean, the heat range of the spark plugs?
    The iridium plugs are:DPR8EIX-9.
I think they are one step colder than standard plugs for Warrior, but I am not 100% shore about that.
