    Tragedy at Ft. Hood!

This is a breaking news story!  It kinda goes along with the "What's Wrong With People?" thread.

It really is sad...if you have a problem you can't handle, just go ahead and kill yourself already, instead of killing innocent people.

Our news here in Houston said the guy was an officer, psychologist, and didn't want to be shipped out to Iraq. What an A-hole! He was supposed to be the one providing mental help to soldiers but instead of helping them, he killed 12 and wounded several more. Glad they whacked him. I feel bad for the families of those who were murdered.

Now they're saying that he's alive and in custody. They should have finished the job!

Well I can say that it was one crazy experience. I was about 2 blocks away at our Family rediness center in a class about equal oportunity (irony) and then things just went crazy we locked ourselves in the building at the order or our commander and were there for about 5 hours until they gave the all clear. The whole event seems so sureal and just brings back a lot of fealings from when I was deploied. You cant help  but think wow I wonder who was injured, is it someone I know, I hope its not, but I dont want it to be anyone, it just reminds me of the fealings I felt when I lost 7 of my brotheres in the 1/37th Field Artillery back in 07. My heart goes out to all those affected and the Female civilian officer who got the privlage of shooting the ***. She in in stable condition at Scott and white hospital in Temple and I think she should be awarded the highest honor she can be. I am not looking forward to the release of the names and almost dont want to know. please keep thease troops and their families in your prairs and hearts. They served their country and will be honored as heros.

Its good to hear that you werent hurt, or worse. My heart does go out to all those involved in this horrific act.

I agree, they should have finished him off, but think about it, he was on a military base. He's only alive b/c they wanted him to be. How many of the 33,000 soldiers on that base do you think could have hit him between the eyes from 1,000 yards. IIm sure they dont have snipers sitting on the buildings, why would they? They are supposed to be safe there. But I think you get my point. But, on the contrary, how many of those on base carry weapons? Is it just MP or MP and high ranking?

IMO, I hope they let him go but release him to the soldiers that are on that base. I think they would give a punishment that would make him wish they would have killed him yest.

Tell me again how Islam is a faith of peace, love and tolerance?

WHERE was the gov't on this? The guy was posting blatant statements supporting suicide bombing against U.S. troops (aggressor was the actual word he used). The FBI was aware of his recent violent trend. I'm conflicted about this. I don't support arresting people for something that they might do, but knowing that this guy was headed down the garden path and that we had to wait for him to act doesn't sit well with me either.

As I type this, there are Muslims cheering this guy outside of a mosque in Manhattan, according to CNN. <Gag> Ick!

One of the wounded has died so the number killed is up to 13 now.  There's nothing worse than a home-grown terrorist!

The only ones who are armed on a daily basis on moast any base in the us are MP's and Gate guards. Even those of us out doing field training dont have live amunition just blanks (hints the meaning Training) but yes we are suposed to be safe as a vast majorty of the soldiers here live in on base housing. You just never expect a fellow soldier to loose it especialy one whose job is helping soldiers who are having mental problems either in their personal life or after returning from war.

I am pretty sure that he was born and raised in VA and that his parents are from Palestine.

They were actually less safe there then if they had been civilians even because I imagine there is a no carry rule on base for off duty personnel and hardly anyone on any base is issued a firearm other then a select few post.  It's a real shame that this happened but what really got me is how when I heard about it I wasn't even surprised.  We've definitely changed as a country.

hmmm, this feels like the radical islam thing where these people live amoung us, become friends with us and then when we least expect it cut us to pieces. according to sources he had a brother? or someone he lived with that looked just like him? any idea if he's been detained for questioning? Also clips of interviews from neighbors talking about the typical muslim or arabic prayer signs around their home....man this stinks of radical islam! I know how "type casting this sounds" but like Goerge Carlin says....if it looks like dog sh!t  and it smells like dog sh!t, it must be dog sh!t!!!

born in this country or not, it feels more and more like anyone with family ties to islam, muslim and the whole gihad thing has it out for the western world.

    He's coming, are you ready?

    Re: Tragedy at Ft. Hood!

I really don't think that it was a radical Islam thing. His faith undoubtedly had an influence on his thinking, but that is the point of faith and can be said of any.

I think it had more to do with his fear or concern about being deployed to Afganistan. Having worked with soldiers returning from combat, he wanted nothing to do with that. My big issue is that he was in the military in the first place. IF YOU GO INTO THE MILITARY, YOU MAY HAVE TO GO TO WAR. Especially in these times, I can't believe that there are still people in the military that don't understand that until it is time for them to deploy. He is a psychologist. He wasn't going to be getting shot at, or doing any shotting anyway. Unstable people are unstable, regardless of what job they are doing.
