    Throttle body adjustment screws.

     Good day Warriors!

Last week I wen't heavy into my 2002 Warrior because she was acting up on me. While working on her I got a little ahead of myself and removed the two brass screws on the throtle bodies. These screws are just like the air/fuel/idle screws on carburators. I built my own gauge out of clear rubber hose and oil in my garage and I have used it twice now to adjust those two screws. It works really well only I just haven't been able to "perfet" the idle yet.

Do any of you know how many turns out the #1 (rear) screw is on the throttle body? What I mean is cylinder #1 is the rear and #2 is the front. The manual sates that #1 is the standard and to adjust the #2 only to balance the throttle bodies. I am looking for some baseline data which is:

From the seated position, how many turns out is the #1 throttle body idle screw?

This will give me a basline position to work from.

     Thank you all,

                J

May I ask a silly question, just in case?  The TB's have air adjusting screws that are used to sync #2 to #1, and they also have throttle valve adjusting screws that are not used for that purpose.  Which did you mess with?  Which are you using to sync?

As you know already, ServMan 3-15 and 3-16 provide the overview, and 3-16 has the vacuum reading too.  The air screw for #1 is the 'standard' or 'baseline' no matter where its set, you just match #2 to it.

If you moved the throttle valve adjusting screws, then its a bit trickier.

Yes, I am talking about the maintenance action on 3-15 and 3-16. I messed around with it some more last night and I think I nailed it. I just put #1 at about 2 turns out and then brought in #2 on the vacuum gauge to match.

Not sure what the manual means when it says "Throttle valve adjusting screws".  I assume its talking about the butterflies and how they open and close. I did not mess with that at all.

     Thanks for helping on this.

    Re: Throttle body adjustment screws.

     Justin,

I looked through my service manual and cannot find the answer.

I believe I remember someone saying 1.5 turns out.  You mentioned carbs, usually those are 2.5 turns out but I think the TB was 1.5.  I would try the 1.5 turns and see what you can get.  If that does not give good results, try starting over with 2.5 turns out.

Sorry I don't have a more definitive answer, but I know you will get this right....

Let us know how it goes.....
