    Importing A Bike to Australia

Hey all, i was wondering if any body has had any dealings with importing/exporting their bikes. Warriors in Australia are fetching between $14-$19k AUD(about 12-16 USD) and i think i can get a better deal in the states. The bikes should be compliant here no worries, my main concern is having someone in the USA whom i can trust to get a bike to me. Any suggestions? Cheers. Stumpdog.

Well Stump it seems like you'd be able to find a much better deal from a place like ebay, and the seller if motivated enough could probably arange shipping to AU...not sure how much that would cost but you could find a mint warrior including shipping for much less than the AU price

    I'm just a wannabe outlaw...it's a shame really.

Cheers Josh. Do you know of any other sites other than Ebay I could try? Cheers in advance. Stump.

Other AUS guys have tried but it seems between the import duties and cost of freight there really isn't much of a difference considering all the pain and agony you go through.

If you are talking new bikes, $12,000 AUD is about $11,000 USD today.  New Warriors sell for about $10k USD if the dealer is in a bind, or $13k list when the dealer is doing good.  You are probably better off buying there.

If you are talking used bikes, then you should get a couple of freight quotes first, then add import duties, then consider how much you have left in your cash budget to actually buy the used bike.  The money doesn't seem to work out very often.

Hey Stump. Late last year I imported a 05 midnight into New Zealand from the US. I ended up making the purchase from a shop reasoning while I would pay a little more it would simplify the process.

Found what I wanted by checking ebay, cycletrader, craigslist, google search. The guys in the shop couldn't do enough for me. Were happy to negotiate on the price, crated the bike and arranged transport to LA. My shipping agent did the rest from there.

I would imagine the value of the bike in NZ would be maybe a couple of grand more than my landed cost, but I havn't seen another warrior here to make a comparison with.

    Good luck mate.
