    I have a question.

    Hello All,

I have a question about aftermarket exhaust. If I deside to change my exhaust, do I need a certified mechanic to do it because of the fuel injection system?

Absolutely not.  It is very easy to swap the exhaust, no certified mechanic needed.

The biggest thing to know if that you will need a 6mm allen wrench to take off the right foot control bracket.  Just 2 bolts, a couple of spacers and washers to put back on when you are done.  Exhaust botls are not that tight and can be removed very easy.  It does help to have a spare set of hands, but it is not required.  What kind of exhaust are you thinking of doing?

    Hello Again,

Sorry it's taken so long to respond. I'm inbetween internet locations. But anyway. Thanks for the responses. I am thinking of running Samson Shortys, I saw them on another bike and they looked awsome. Does anyone have any other suggestions along the lines of pipe?

I put on V & H Big Shots.  They have a differant look than the Samson's that you are considering, but I love them and they were a snap to install.

I had the Samson Rip Saws on my bike when i got it and they were awesome and loud but i wanted my power back so i went with the V&H Propipe and that two is another awesome pipe and the torque return over the samsons is real nice to... The Propipe is still loud if run it without the baffle but i got the comp baffle and its still loud when u roll in the throttle... just do some researching and ask around u will find everybody as there own style

+1 for the Big Shots...installed them and left the standard baffles in for awhile, then somehow one of the baffles fell out while riding and i went w/out baffles for about 2 months.  The sound was kinda like a nitro bike or drag car to me, sounded awesome but on acceleration it had this high pitched knocking or "tinny" sound.  Now with the quiet baffles installed i've found the perfect sound, and have a ton more low end torque back

I went with the quiet baffles when bought the pipes and I also love the sound.

I have V&H Big Shots but don't know what baffles are in it.  They are straight through with tabs.  What are the quiet baffles like?  Are they packed with material?  I would like to get some I think.

     Thanks

    They come wraped with fiberglass.

    Re: I have a question.

Yes the quiet baffles have a closed end closest to the motor, and have fiberglass wrap that goes around the outside of the baffle.  It seemed alot quieter initially because i was running no baffles, but i think they sound good and performance is much better, lost a few hp in the higher rpms though

    Re: I have a question.

John, if you like the look of twin pipes I recommend Vance & Hines or the new Cobra pipes. They have a crossover between the pipes so they are actually a 2 into 1 into 2.  That will give you the best all around performance with much better low end than pipes without the crossover.

    Re: I have a question.

    First, welcome to the forum!

When you change your exhaust, you'll also probably need a PowerCommander (PC-III or preferably PC-V) to re-tune the injection system.  Many guys make it simple and they buy their VBAK intake and their exhaust system at the same time, plus their PowerCommander, then do it all at once.  That way its only dynotuned once.

You'll find some interesting links to posts discussing exhaust systems if you look in the Popular Mods post (under Exhausts).  That post is at the top of the Technical forum.  There is also a handy link to it in my sig pic below if easier.

    Good luck and have fun!

    Re: I have a question.

Big Shots on mine.  When looking for a Warrior, I liked the look of the Sampson Street Sweepers and Ground Pounders.  From what I've read here, I don't think Sampson can match V&H pipes for quality or power production.

    V&H Propipe $430

    Big Shots $494

    Sampson $540

I'm going to try a set of quite baffles for next year.

    Re: I have a question.

One thing about shorties, they will be loud regardless if they have baffles or not.  The only drawback with shorties is that you can scape them in hard right handers.  You didn't put a city in your profile, but you might be able to find a couple of warriors local to you and see what different pipes sound like.  I now have the speedstar Gen 2 pipe and like it better than my Bub Chambermaids that were on before.  Still a loud pipe, but the sound is behind me instead of at my right hip and the power is a lot better.
