Got the bike back, recall done

    Well,

The dealer did wind up charging me 79 bucks to install the HC  Pistons.   I dont really mind because this thing runs like a raped ape!   Now, he did charge me 60 bucks to change the oil.  The thing that sucks is that I JUST CHANGED THE OIL BEFORE I TOOK IT IN!    I woulda thought that an oil change would come with the recall...    Anyone else have to pay for an oil change w/ the recall?

I would say you kindof got hosed on the oil change. Should have been free. But $60 isn't too bad I guess.

I think this was mentioned in your original post about the recall work.  Since they have to do what they are doing they have to drain the oil to perform the recall.  This would mean that the oil change should have been included in the recall work.  $60 for an oil change?????????????????????????????  Give me a break.  I don't pay but $60 to get my oil changed in my diesel truck and that thing takes 13 quarts.

I was not charged for a oil change when I had mine done. They left the bttom of the bike all covered in oil, but that is another story.

I hope you like your dealer, cause he screwed you twice. $60 for the oil change and $79 for the piston swap.

Yamaha pays the dealers for the recall, and that includes new oil, since it can't be done without draining and re-filling the oil. And the stock pistons are sitting out on the bench when the recall is being done, so the only labor he had putting the HC pistons in, was reaching to the left instead of the right. Let us know who your dealer was so no one else gets screwed over.

Trust me, i'm not too happy about it.   Especially since i changed the oil in it RIGHT before i took it in....   Needless to say, i wont be taking it back there anytime soon.  Im just glad to have the bike back.

Yup... i look at it as a 140ish dollar lesson learned.....     The thing is, i didnt want to take it to the dealer i bought it from.   Long story short, THAT dealer loaded my bike up when i bought it (with 0 miles on it) in my buddies truck (i didnt have my license yet and didnt feel comfortable driving it home).  Well, he strapped it down with ratchet straps and said it was secure..  Yah, it fell over on the way home, dented the tank... 0 friggin miles on the damn thing.   So... i there was no WAY i was taking it there for the recall.

The dealer that did the recall is under the same name as the dealer that i bought it from, just a different location.   I dont want to say the name of the dealer, but it rhymes with schmycle schmorld.

Oh, oh, I know, I know. I would probably appear to the service department, so they know that I know that they screwed me!!

couldn't hurt, or keep that in your pocket when u go back and let them know that u know they double billed and you will need some compensation.  i would. also threaten to sit outside with a sign during their busy hours,  that usually works quite well.

Cycle World in Baltimore? Gak...Ick!That place is so ghetto. Try Pete's Cycle or Heyser or that place down near Waldorf off of 301. Sorry for your pain partner.

On the upside, we'll have to meet up for a ride someday. Hopefully before winter really sets in.

I'd go back to that dealership and ask one of the managers (service or general, whoever would have a clue of what's happened) for a customer service comment card so you can let corporate know how "happy" you were.  If they don't have enough interest to find out right then, follow through and let corporate know.  You can let them know you're upset but try to keep it objective.
