    Exhaust Silencer Gasket?

I bought some exhaust gaskets off ebay and got them today.  What I found was not what I expected.  Instead of flat washer-like rings I found 1" tall tubes.  I rechecked the auction listing and in the description it said exhaust silencer gaskets.  The title of the listing just said exhaust gaskets.  The description listed which bikes it fit which included the Warrior among others.  The two gaskets were supposed to be the same but upon further inspection, one had a part # of 5PX-14755-00 while the other was 5KS-147500-00.  Both are similar with one being slightly smaller in diameter.  My question is, does anyone know what these parts are, where they'd be used, and if they are applicable to the Warrior (bike, not atv).  I did a quick search on here and on the Yamaha website and found nothing.  These have genuine Yamaha labels on the package.

From your description, the gasket that you received sounds like the one that goes between the pipe and the muffler. The smaller one would go between the front pipe and the rear pipe around the Y connection. At least that is how I remember the stock system being. I remember removing something that was about 1" long at those two joints on the stock system. If I remember they look like some kind of braided material that was dipped in lead or something. Just an FYI, yamaha calls the muffler the silencer, so the silencer gasket would go between the muffler pipe and the exhaust pipe. Hope this makes sense.

I just looked up those part numbers on the fiche and the 5PX number is the gasket between the front pipe and the Y pipe. The other number wasn't listed on the year that I looked up (2005). Just click on the MotorSportsSuperStore link at the top right of this page and you can look it all up on the parts fiche.

You pretty much described what I got and after I read "silencer" in the listing description I was guessing the same thing.  I don't have the stock pipe though and thought I was buying the gasket between the pipe and engine.  Anyhow, I contacted the seller and he's willing to refund the whole deal because the listing was kind of unclear and the gaskets he sent were different from each other.  Thanks for they replies guys.

    Hey bigr,

I just noticed you authored both replies and I also noticed you were from Bonney Lake.  I'm not sure where that is but my roommate is at Lake Tapps as I type.  Didn't know where that was either but she said it was near Bonney Lake.  Thanks again for your help.

Glad that it all worked out for you. The factory gaskets that you need is 3EG-14613-00-00. You will need two of them. I get most of my stock parts from South Seattle Sports Plaza in Federal Way. You can order online and have them shipped to you. They are the cheapest around that I found and I have been doing business with them since the early '80s, so they have been around for a while.

PS. Lake Tapps (the town) is one town north of Bonney Lake. The actual lake runs from Auburn at the north to Bonney Lake at the south. I am only a few blocks from the boat launch at Alan York park. Always nice to here from other warrior owners from western Washington.
