    AlanH:

Jim .... those are some excellent 1/4 mile times Yes Beer .... do you happen to have the 1/8 mile times and just curious what tire pressure were you running on the 240?

Wish i could have attended the event Sad

    Thanks guy's,

Alan, I got the time slips at home, I'll try to add a copy or picture to the post if I can figure it out. I dropped the tire pressure from 36psi to 28psi after a couple o runs, I didn't want to drop it to low as I figure lower pressure = more rolling friction down the strip. I didn't notice much of a difference from the lower pressure. It seemed to me to be more about rpm's weight position and clutch/throttle. I'd love to go back and experiment some more.

I road my bike to the event and brought an extra belt just in case. Although I ran it hard all the time and it never missed a beat, I think maybe next time I'll truck it there. Too much funStick out tongue

that is amazing for times considering there are warriors around here that go 12.25 + - and they are 108 ci and only have 200 rears on them and about a 250 lb rider. i would like to know more about the set up you have ,because the stock bike best for the sales specs aint even close to that and the pipe doesnt do that much to bring the numbers down to that level, and your doing a 240 rear and stock gearing? rider aint the word for it . let us know more, btk572

    Well,

Lets see..... It's a 2006, it's got the mini fairing(which I think helps for top speed and drag in general), I originally installed the Baron's big air kit(which was nice because it came with the coil relocation plate) but didn't like the air cleaners because the didn't fit well and would occasionally pop off the throttle bodies. I then replaced the baron's air cleaner set up with the Patrick racing air kit ,which has bigger aircleaner and velocity stacks. I started with the Muzzy's dragstyle pipes (similar to bigshots) but there was a slight cornering clearance issue with the front header. I got the Propipe which I was running. I had a custom map done by FXtune, a person I know and respect for his tuning ability, plus the dyno had an eddy brake which is important for loading the motor and getting accurate settings. The 240 was welded by Kosman, I did the swingarm clearance myself. The bike has always run strong but I haven't been into the engine yet. I'm very tempted to go 110ci and do some head work, just don't have the extra cash. I too was surprised that I could get to the lower 12 second area reading posts from the forum. I have been riding all my life, and from racing in the dirt I know how to get off a starting line ( although pavement at the strip is different animal). All I can say is it was a rush and I'm not lying about the motor, its stock internally.

If this worked here's a picture of the time slip, it didn't come out that well.

    reaction:.307 , I1:1.760, I2:4.937, I3:7.668, MPH(I3):89.071, I4:10.061 , ET:12.140 , MPH:108.642   I'm not sure what the distances are for I1 thru 4. Maybe I3 is 1/8th mile. If someone knows those I would like to know, thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much about breaking belts.  Out of the 2 Warriors drag races that I was fortunate enough to get to attend at WarriorFest I and III, I can remember only 2 belts getting broken and these guys thrashed the heII outta their bikes me included.  And if I remember correctly one of those was on a full-on race bike.  Those are pretty good numbers for a Warrior, mine ran a 8.40 in the 1/8th mile with a 33 tooth front pulley, homemade BAK and Rineharts, plus I weighed roughly 330 lbs then with gear.

    Re: Going Drag Racing

Are you running a stock clutch?

I assume that you were in 4th gear at the finish line, did you notice your rpm at that point?

If your runnin for fun, I'd try the 33T to see what the rpm is at the line.

Depending on the times and speed comparision, it will give us good information to ponder.

Mike, thanks for clearing up those #'s. Yes that older generation Vmax with the bolted on supercharger was a beast, it looked like a real handful in it's current state. And thanks for showin up and representing the Warriors it was more fun.

Alan, I don't remember it being quite 110 but we'll stick with your story it sounds better. Hope we can get together a ride again.

whajac, Nice dyno #'s you've got me by about 4 hp. Stock clutch(just the speed * spring), 4th gear at the finish line didn't look at the tach but it felt near the end of the rpm's. Tryed shifting to 5th before finish once, didn't help the time. Although shifting without the clutch after 2nd did help and was much smoother.

as i suspected it might be ,and it is .the times are for the new 1000 foot track not the 1320 1/4 mile that is the norm to most people drag racing . more and more tracks are going to the new system but most are still running slower classes the full 1320 and pro classes and fuel cars 1000 feet. that explains alot of the 12,14 time that is posted by a stock motor warrior, around here you still have to go another 320 feet to the finish line, and im sure that will bring the numbers right back into the ballpark of a stock warrior and a 240 tire bike running 1320 feet as a 1/4 mile for times . good riding though, btk572

    Whaat?........... If (I 4) = 1000ft my 1000ft time was 10.06 sec., I never heard of the new 1000ft 1/4mi.Hmm

Oh no, not my numbers.  I just grabbed a dyno sheet from Goggle images.  I'm just trying to bench race here.  I think that I would want to be between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm at the line, not near the red line where the power and torque has dropped off.  .02

NOT...Sac Raceway is a Full 1/4 mile.Yes 1320 ft.... It's a way Cool track. A real old school through back to the 60's. We were even  using the old push down lane ,used back in the day to fire the dragsters,as the return road back to the start.... Jim's able to keep his bike HOOKED-UP. Thus the way low 12 times. What I wish I would have though of then was for Jim to make a pass or 2 on my bike...Not that I think my bike is as fast..But I bet it would be close..OH next time....

That's just for the Funnys and the Fuelys. Mere mortals still have to go the whole 1320. In any case, Jim's 240 pushed him to 1000 feet in 10 point 061, and 12.140 at 1320.

I SO wish I had worn my racin breeches on Sunday.  Next time...
