    Going Drag Racing

I'm going to the drags in a couple o weeks and I was wondering if any one has any experience on the 1/4 mile running a 33th front pulley vs the stock 32th.

I currently have a 33th on but I have the 32 also. The motor is stock (internally), have a propipe, patrick air kit, custom map and a 240 rear.

I'm thinkin with the 33 I'll probably not get to 5th gear, but maybe with the 32 you can leave it in 4th also, It's all about how it's pullin at the finish. The other question would be off the line, I'm figuring 2nd won't  come so early with the 33th. I don't know, never officially been on a drag strip. Anyone with some experience would be greatly appreciated, don't want to put on the 32 if it's not going to help, I love cruzin with the 33.

The less teeth the quicker you are off the line. If going to the track and drag racing wouldn't you want a 31 tooth front sprocket? 33 tooth is better for the highway for lowering the rpms at highway speeds. I guess out of the two the (33 or 32 tooth) the 32 would be quicker for drag racing.

Yeah, don't be expecting to set any records, not fast ones at least, with a 33 and a 240.

I'd definitely want the 31T for the 1/4 mile.  I want the 31T just for riding around town.  I rarely want to ride faster than 100mph, but I often want to bolt off the line.

I have not taken my Warrior to the strip, so I don't know what I'm talking about.  But... you won't get to 5th gear in a quarter mile, regardless of which pulley you're running.  All stock gearing, tires, etc., I find that my Warrior red-lines at about 90mph in 3rd gear and 115mph in 4th gear.  I doubt the Warrior can break 100mph in 1/4 mile.

Thanks, that's some of the info I was lookin for.    If I trucked it to the drags and took the tools I suppose could change pulleys back and for and really find out which works best. From some of the times I've seen a stocker or slightly modded warrior is barely over 100mph through the traps.

And oldman.... ya mean I'm not going to set a world record.Wink     I'm just lookin to beat my fellow warrior pilots that day.

Regardless of which pulley you use, it's gonna be a blast. Remember to breath while you're pulling up to the start line, and enjoy the experience. : )

I think it would be interesting to see how you do with a 33 if you do the same thing everyone else does then you can exspect like times and resaults and could save yourself a trip to the drags,If I had the 33 on I would run that way then try the 32 next timeYesCool

I dunno... with the 33 you might be inclined to spin less ...and have time to get in your shift to 2nd... I'd be interested to hear the difference.

That's what I'm thinkin, It just a matter of if it will pull hard enough out of the hole. I still haven't made up my mind.

I did order a new belt just in case, the stock ones got 30k on it and it will probably be fine but it would be a drag (...the bad kind) to end up spectating after snapping one. I'll post up after....should be a blast.

    Re: Going Drag Racing

Went to Sacramento Raceway sunday for the Vmax/Warrior Dragfest. This was set up by Fxstien and was a blast.

I ended up switching out the 33th front pulley for the 32th. Would have been interesting to try the 33 but was concerned about the launch. My best time was 12.144 @110 mph. Took me a while to figure out the launch, boy there's a lot of things to think about at the line, at first it's a little overwelming but after a run or two you figure out you just need to be ready when you prestage, there's no hurry. Tryed loading the clutch and launching at 3000 rpm but seemed to spin the tire and get to rev limiter right away. Finally found my bike likes loading the clutch at 2000 rpm. Also with the Metzler 240 it needs a burnout to warm the tire or it just spins.

My 06 Warrior has a stock motor with a Propipe, PR air kit and a PC111 with a custom map from FXtuner at San Jose Yamaha. I was really excited at the results and think with more runs and working on the launch I might be able to get to the high 11's. I'm 5'10" and weight 200lbs, man if I could lose some weight THAT sure would help.

There were 2 Vmaxes there tuned by Oliver (Fxstien), he has gotten them to 200rwhp on the dyno. With ringer drag pilots on them, rear slicks and race gas they got to 9.49 at 147mph before I left.

This drag racing thing feals like it could be addicting, I can't wait to try it again. It's a blast.

Jim .... those are some excellent 1/4 mile times Yes Beer .... do you happen to have the 1/8 mile times and just curious what tire pressure were you running on the 240?

Wish i could have attended the event Sad

Kinda what I was thinking tMr..... So I just stage with No burnout. Leave when the tree turns green no loading the clutch with the brake and 40 psi in the tire,210 mets, best run 13.03 best mph 105.02. Had soooo much fun with not to much work for the belt and tire. We could run dowm the strip come back on the return road and get right back in the staging lane and run again. I would make 3 passes and let the bike cool down and do a little bench racing then go some more. Jim and I ran a few times just straight up,no  handycap, just for the fun of it.

Hard to imagine that a stock engine could pull such good #'s. You are about ready to go V-Rod hunting.
