Huh? [:^)] Re: hi there .. a tire question.. someone try this??

I sold motorcycle tires while working at a Honda, Yamaha & Kawaski dealership and I have never ever heard of a recap motorcycle tire.  I really wonder why?  I think this idea is right up there with the $50 car tire on a motorcycle.  The way I feel about it is simple, a emergency stop or swerve is not the time to find out your tire sucks.  I think you can reasonably purchase a really great tire from a number of different sources so my two cents says don't go cheap when it comes to your tires.

Moving parts in rubbing contact require lubrication to avoid excessive wear. Honorifics and formal politeness provide lubrication where people rub together. Often the very young, the untraveled, the naive, the unsophisticated deplore these formalities as "empty," "meaningless," or "dishonest," and scorn to use them. No matter how "pure" their motives, they thereby throw sand into machinery that does not work too well at best.

I know several people who have successfully used Tomahawk retreads to road race. They're putting the tires to test (much harder than street riding) by inducing accelerating and braking forces as well as high mph into the tires that road riders will never see. No complaints from them.

That said, I've never personally used the Dresser Tomahawks, but I may now that my budget is tighter.

Retreads today are much better, much safer than they were years ago.  The failure rate is extremely low.  However, it is still higher than the failure rate on  new tires.  I'm not real sure just where I am on the cosmic karma scale so I choose not to push my luck with retreads.

I with you on that one.

I know the price of MC tires is painful but they are one of the most critical components of the bike.  I simply ride better and enjoy riding more having confidence in my tires--that is worth the extra money.

I have a question, how many would purchase and use a reconditioned parachute certified by Ray Charles?

WTF, a good tire is the only thing differentiating you from road kill, why would you want to skimp?  I'd rather not ride than take my chances on a "it should hold up fine" tire.

    Just my  $.02

Wouldnt mess with a Reman but the I would second the Avon Storm, hands down, the best tire I have used!
