Re: just walked away from a v-rod

One day I walked away from a busa... It's true... I looked at it parked there, then I walked away from it. Stick out tongue

And I still believe a built 110 ci warrior will walk the dog on a stock v-rod, or muscle, or night rod.....

You guys are harsh.Big Smile He has been claiming significant power gains ever since he went to the carb. Now that he has a dyno appointment we shall get to see the truth. I met a guy at bikenight the other night that had a 102ci R* motor in a custom frame and it had a carb conversion. You talk about cleaned up. These engines require like zero wireing without all the FI stuff sitting on top of it. He claimed it seemed much more powerfull on the carb as well. Pretty cool looking too with that big carb sticking out the side.

Just out of curiousity where did you get the carb you used? What was it off of and what size is it? Did you make the manifold for it. This Roadstar engines manifold looked to be a cast peice. I thought maybe he robbed it off an older carbed 98ci roadstar and it still fit the 102ci.

    well, I wouldn't say totally built 110ci....Wink

if I had to do it all over again, I would also change the cams, valves, lifters, springs, rods, and get a port & polish...My buddy says he would destroy me if he added another $2k in mods to his stock bike, do you suppose I'd get a lil' sumptin' more by doing the rest?

    INJEKTER:

    mdfdwarrior:

my buddy has a new stock VROD Muscle with about 1000 miles on her.  My mods are listed in my gallery page (PR 110ci w/ hc pistons but stock cams, valves, lifters, etc.).  We did three pulls and each time I beat him up to 100 + mph...  All three runs were from a rolling start.  I knew I'd get the hole shot so instead I wanted to see if the Warrior could hang on the upper end....it walked from the Muscle by about 2-3 bike lengths max, about 1 bike length min...

The mags post an 11.38 1/4 mile for the Muscle.

I think we both ride fairly equal, with perhaps a slight edge to him....but then again I did shift w/o pulling the clutch...

dude................you are sporting a built 110,  that we believe.  other stories........not so much.

When Patrick Racing started racing the Warriors they converted the bikes to carbs.V Rods were also racing in the same class in AMA Prostar. The PR Warriors consistently beat the V Rods & the Hardleys dropped out of the class.Seems the carbed Warriors make/made pretty good power.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm not doubting that a modified Warrior can beat a stock V-Rod.  What has me puzzled is the come from behind victory because the normal scenario would play out such that the Warrior would get somewhat of a jump to start and then fall behind as things progress but he's claiming just the opposite which makes even less sense with the carb, not more.  The most likely explanation for this to me is the V-Rod riders abilities, that's all.

Re: just walked away from a v-rod

I am sorry.... The Warrior is a great bike, but your friend cannot ride worth a ***, if this is a true story.  A 60 mph 5th gear roll on?  60 mph is more of a 3rd gear cruising speed for the v rod.  Jogging away?  Why does it seem like some folks on this forum, more than any other I belong to seem to brag and talk about how they smoked this and walked away from that?  I have friends that ride all makes and models, HD, Warrior, M109R's and some Crotch Rockets, and ride them well, so I do not consider myself a brand bias individual.  You can stick to your story all you want, but I am waving the BS flag here.  Ride safe.

to all the posters who are either implying that im lying or outright waving the "b.s. flag", guys, first sunny day this week i will be on the dyno. its looking like wednesday so far. if im guilty of anything its not going and getting the bike dynod earlier. why on earth does anyone feel like i need to lie here??? i know the warrior is not a  fast bike in the grand scheme of things. and it boggles my mind how someone could not be able to ride doing a 60mph 5th gear roll on. thats like a retard proof test. thats why people do it. it eliminates the human factor.  dyno post coming soon.  -john

It "boggles your mind"?  Must not be tough to do,  but it really has to do with gearing and rpms.  Who the hell lugs thier bike around?  What does the warrior redline at?  6,000 rpms? ( I am guessing so please correct me if I am wrong).  From the factory the V rod redlines up around 9,000 rpms.  With a race tuner (that is an HD fuel management/tuning software, as no one runs a carb) you can bump this up to 10,000 rpms.  The V rod does not even start to make power until 5,000 rpms.  Does that help un-boggle your mind as to why I would question a 5th gear pull at that speed?  So with that said, sounds like any retard can twist a throttle, but riding takes some smarts.  Good luck with your dyno, hope it comes out as high as you hoped for.

Enabling thread subscription.  I'm interested in the dyno results.  You never know...  But for now I have to lean towards the rider of the v-rod not having the nads to push his bike like he needed to in order to win if everything else happened as described.  I just hope I don't see a post like this:

    ----------------------------------------------------------

OK, everyone.  Here are my dyno results:

    136.7 hp at 4700 RPM

    153.8 ft-lbs torque at 3100 RPM.

     -----------------------------------------------------------

Because if I do then I'm going to post my own dyno results and it's gonna look something like this:

    204 hp at 5300 RPM

    266.9 ft-lbs torque at 3600 RPM.

    Stick out tongue

210 hp at 4400 rpm here but only 235 torque....  I suck.  Sad

So, I'm curious, you have both a Warrior and a Harley in your gallery. Which of those bikes is generating the dyno stats you posted???

Add both of the bikes togeter and you might get those numbers.  Shag is having some fun and being sarcastic at the same time.  Everyone's just curious as to what a warrior with a carb is making hp wise.

Exactly.  I don't own a Warrior motorcycle anymore and my Harley just *barely* puts out enough power to walk away from a Warrior.  DevilSurpriseStick out tongue
