There is a guy up in BC who has an 1800 Wing.  It looks just like any other Wing you see out there.  He has turned a 10.8 in the 1/4 mile.  Turbos are wonderful things!

Found clutch cable this morning. Took the warrior and the wife to pick the cable up and eat breakfast. Came home and installed the cable. Changed final drive oil it looked freash but we still changed it. Installed the covers. Had an O-ring fail so drain antifreeze. Replace o-ring, all good. Changed out the old front brake fluid and bled brake. The rear brake has issues we will deaql with hopefully next weekend. Really need to do the carbs. runs very well for how long it has set, but obviously has some crud in primary jetting and needs to be sync. And I do not trust the old needle valves.

    wing

Done some cleaning on the bike and the parts bike. Started pulling the luggage off the parts bike. Mom now says she will ride if there is a back rest so here comes the bags. he was talking leave it bare. I showed him the pics of the Bulldog bike Ken posted he really likes it and has some paint ideas. Such as the valve covers, but he wants to wrap around to the timing covers also. We went for a short test ride. I chased on the Warrior. About 10 miles of county roads. I did not know those bikes would get up and go as well as it does. And it is not tuned in at all.

This pic says" life is good today".

What do you think?     By the end of the day he had Mom on there with out a back rest, she is scared of bikes. She was fine just going around the block. Seemed pretty happy also. Dad said " he was glad that he and I actually got to ride together for once". I was proud of that.

This is the most glorious pic I could manage with all the sun out today.

I've got to work tomarrow so no more on this till later. Knoxville, TN here I come.

Re: wing rebuild or boat anchor?

Today I changed the spark plugs. and found were the rear brake was getting air. the rear caliper is in need of repair. I have anouther caliper but I believe the brass washers between the rear part of the caliper and the actual caliper are bad. need vavle in carb #3 is sticking. I am going to rebuild carbs but not today. I also took all  the luggage off tthe other bike, and painted up the windjammer bracket. thats good enough for a week night beings how I had the mow the yard first. Maybe I could get more done in a day if we could get the government to over see my schedule of daily events.

Getting dirt bikes out this weekend. Have not had them out this year. This my get interesting. Not conditioned for it but we will see what happens. as long as I can stay in front of my wife I'll be happy. Looking forward to this upcoming abuse of machine and body.

Fitted trunk and saddle bags. They fit very well. I had to modify one bracket. They are tight to the exhaust but there is an heat shield between and the heat did not transfer very mach after sitting at idle till the cooling fan kicked on. Checked to make sure the cooling fan worked properly and it does.

Re: wing rebuild or boat anchor?

I posted the other day that I had mounted the luggage but did not post pics. Sorry for the delay but here they are:

As you can see by the bowl under the bike  we ahve a problem. The water neck o-ring failed so we had to replace it with a thicker aftermarket o-ring. Seems to be OK now.

Need some work back here. We will get to that.

Going to have to choose new turn signals or mod those. They hit the bags while fitting so I just set them out of the way for now.

This is what the bike looks like right now. Dad came over Saturday and took all the luggage, Body panels, Brackets, and Windjammer. He took the for paint a little early in my opinion but we said its his bike. Right? There is plenty more work to do and it would be nice to not have to worry as much about scratches or scuffs.

The others that are more interested in the other bike it is slowly being picked apart this is what it looks like as of now:

I was not able to do anything to the bikes myself this weekend due to the House. I had to build the roof over the porch. We also stripped the old shingles and put new on the intire front. We done the back of the house last year.

MAybe next week we will get further.

Dad's bike is looking nice and the donor sure has lots of potential.  Lots of work, but lots of fun too!

Dad still has the body panels, luggage, and brackets for paint. I replaced the ignition switch last night, and about to order the carb kits. Will replace throttle cables when I install the carbs after rebuild.

Give him a real surprise and toss an 1800 engine in there while he's not looking.

yeah we will have to walk before we can run. He has rode my Warrior once and I think it was a little much for  him. That 1000 is pretty healthy much more than I was expecting. But a Gold wing Has always been a grandpa bike in my mind. Even though I have no history with one. Plenty good to get back on the rode at least. Who knows he may trade it in on a BUSA or something crazy. You never can tell. I've seen it both ways people you think ought to be riding HOGS sitting on rice burners, and rocket lookin high school preps riding old school boobers. Nothing against anyone or any bike. just a comment. What ever moves you we all have our own style.
