Ok sticklersStick out tongue I didn't say Confederate Warrior Rally. I don't know how you get much further south than S. Texas, other than Florida and you guys have enough motorcycle stuff there.I tell you what, once we drum up some intrest we will come up with a new name that doesn't confuse anyone.LOL

Lets narrow it down to these three places that have been mentioned the most because the location thing could get out of hand. Let me know what you think.

    San Antonio

    Fredricksburg

    Austin

My vote is for San Antonio in mid May

Just got in from Austin for the weekend. It was one hot mutha on two wheels, 103F. Personally, I would go for Fredericksburg over the rest. The Twisted Sisters are closest to there than the other two mentioned. Although it is one of those artsy fartsy, country craft tourist trap kind of towns, it's somewhat close to the southern hill country where the best riding is in that part of the state.

I might also be up for the SE Oklahoma ride as well, because Oklahoma is "OK". LOL! State motto.Wink

Seriously though, it should probably be planned for late March/early April in Texas. Or, sometime in October. The deer really start moving around between November through February and then the summer is way too hot.

Maybe we should call the occasion, Texas Style or Okie Warrior Fest. That way all of the mullet headed Nascar geeks in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida aren't offended by us calling the event "Southern Warrior Rally".Wink

If we are going to stay somewhere like Fredricksburg lets stay somewhere we can build a fire and cook out then. We could at least save some money that way. I will bring my Grill and I have a smoker that will do 6-8+ racks of ribs and a brisket. Everybody could just pitch in on One or two big group dinners and then we could just eat out the rest of the time.Someone who knows something about the area throw up some links.

I am going to have to say the guys that live down there are going to know where the best riding is and it sounds like Fredricksburg area is it. I looked it up on the map and it is centrally located between Austin and San Antonio. So we could easily hit both of them.

How long do you guys want to do it. I say atleast 4-5 full days. Maybe lap it over a weekend so people don't have to take as many days off work.

I'm going to throw March 11-15 2010 or the 18-22 2010 out there just as an idea. That is a Thursday-Monday.Hows that sound to everyone. Is there much rain in South Texas that time of year? That is my biggest thing I would like to not ride in the rain all week if possible.

March I guess. The consensus seems to be that it is getting hot down there in May.

The only other thing I would know to do would be have it in the Fall and that would put it in a time of year where nothing else was really happening. Which would be an advantage for getting the most people down there. Having it in the spring IS going to cancel alot of people out because they are already taking off for Warriorfest, not to mention there is a chance there will be another WOZARK the weeks after Warriorfest.

I know I am bouncing around but I need some input from you guys because it really doesn't matter to me. I can get off anytime.

You think so?  I really would like to get back there and finish up riding for a whole week.  We didn't even scratch the surface of the good roads that are in NW Arkansas.   I think we could find abetter location to stay next time too.

I actually wouldn't mind merging this idea with WOZARK personally. It isn't that far for the guys from Texas either. Eureka Springs has some beautiful riding guys and is a pretty cool little town. We had a good time there this year.

    Re: Southern Warrior Rally Discussion

nw arkansas would be nice with the hills and twisties, but just to speak for my self, texas would be easier for me financially and thats how i would be able to do it.

so, that being said if it ends up in arkansas its not like im able to attend every meet that there is so no big deal, but on the other hand is there any other meets in texas that i could look foward to?

anyone have any experiences with the galveston thing in october/november i believe?

Being from Texas I would suggest Austin instead of San Antonio and in particular Lake Travis.  Austin is only 45 minutes from San Antonio and less than that to the Devils Backbone area.  The nightlife and food in Austin is great not to mention the coeds.  Or set up between Austin and San Antonio, around New Braunsfels and the Guadalupe River, great float trips by the way.  Plus doing it between the two you are that much closer to the Devil and you also have Canyon Lake plus a few other float rivers.  And the good thing is it is WET.

Its wonderful seeing a beautiful woman pulling something hard
