do your home work on redcoat it is a professional quality coating used by most professional radiator and tank repair shops. its not the bullsh1t cream junk that is all over the place and used with just about no success that i have ever heard of . i have used the red coat for many years and never had the thing of finding it breaking down or comming loose ,especially on a nice newer tank. i would stand behind its use if the directions are followed it will be unbelievable in it ability to do its job. old tanks that people dont get clean and are full of rust and they really should have been cut in half and cleaned sand blasted and rewelded back together to do the job correctly, in this case nothing would have worked. do as you will but when people say dont ever cut and weld a tank it will never be right ,the tank was welded in the first place , there is no reason it cant be cut ,welded in any shape you want ,you just shouldnt do it with a cheap 110 mig welder, the less you have to grind the better the job and the less time in the job. i see the 2 knees in the sides of the tank that you dont like and that is not on the bms pictured tank, and the bms tank looks to have a little more radius in the top and bottom lines of the shell, and definately has straight sides .i like this little tid bit ,screw follow...lead. cya btk572
