How was the weather for you on Saturday? I ended up with long-johns under my jeans, gloves, t-shirt, turtle-neck, and put my liner in my leathers. Pretty damn chilly until about 1:30 and warmed up nicely when the sun came out. Temp shot up 10-15 degrees in about a half-hour. Anyway, the show turned out OK in spite of the weather and about 120 vehicles showed up. Not many bikes though. I managed second place while the first place bike was a first-build for a local fella that made himself a masterpiece in my opinion. He built his bike from parts he bought on e-Bay for a total of just over $10K. It had a 93CI S&S motor with turbo, 300 series tire, and a fabulous paint job just to scratch the surface. I advised him to get ahold of V-Twin magazine and they'd probably put it on the cover - it was that nice. Interestingly enough, I found out he grew up in a town that I lived in for 12 years and his best friend was the brother of a gal I dated. Small world.
If you're thinking about a fall ride up north, I would recommend the Tomahawk Fall Color Rally, middle of September. It's mainly an HD event cause there is a plant in town but there are about 30-40K bikes that show up over a long weekend and it can be a fun time if it ain't snowing. In fact, if I do end up going myself, the fella that I met in Sturgeon Bay said I should give him a buzz cause he was thinking about going. Maybe we could all meet up around Stevens Point and ride up together - I know the best scenic roads to take. Just don't count on finding a hotel within 30 miles.
