    Door County, WI AUG 21-22-23

I'm planning to do a Door county trip for about two days.  The trip will consist of riding to stuergon bay, wi. from there we will go all the way up to washington island, at the tip of door county and ride back.  this trip is a little on the toristy side, as this is a hot spot for the vacationers.  there are a ton of light houses, and other nifty stuff to see.  I and my girl are riding, and i was just going to open it up to anyone else interested.  i dont see us putting on more than about 200 miles a day. and thats prob on the high side.

Hey Tyler, I've been up that way a couple of times and it's a nice place to visit.  I'm sure you and your girl will have a great time!

That sounds like a good ride, espically considering I am about 275 mi away from starting point. I may be mistaken but isn't door county the cherry wine capitol of the universe. I was only there once on work so no wine. What were you thinking for lodging( camp, motel, etc)?

My plans (due to lack of storage and 2up riding) are to motel it.  there is a place called the CHAL-A motel. like 80 bucks for the room.  prob the cheapest place in the county. It's located in Sturgeon Bay, WI just north of green bay. and at the base of door county.  Yes it is known for the cherries and cranberries.  there are a ton of great eateries, sights to see and im sure we could get some drinks in...:)

The plans are to ride door county on saturday, and ill be heading out to crivitz, to meet up with some friends for the night.  the total miles around door county is onl y about 60 miles, so my guess is that we are going to be doing quite a bit of stopping and such.  but still a great ride around.

Come to think of it, I was planning on putting the beast in a show in Sturgeon Bay that Saturday if I can manage to get away from my projects at home and provided the weather is cooperating.  My guess would be that I would get to the show around 10am.  Here's the shows link in case you find a few minutes to visit before heading out of town on your cruise.  Otherwise be safe and have a great ride!

How was the weather for you on Saturday?  I ended up with long-johns under my jeans, gloves, t-shirt, turtle-neck, and put my liner in my leathers.  Pretty damn chilly until about 1:30 and warmed up nicely when the sun came out.  Temp shot up 10-15 degrees in about a half-hour.  Anyway, the show turned out OK in spite of the weather and about 120 vehicles showed up.  Not many bikes though.  I managed second place while the first place bike was a first-build for a local fella that made himself a masterpiece in my opinion.  He built his bike from parts he bought on e-Bay for a total of just over $10K.  It had a 93CI S&S motor with turbo, 300 series tire, and a fabulous paint job just to scratch the surface.  I advised him to get ahold of V-Twin magazine and they'd probably put it on the cover - it was that nice.  Interestingly enough, I found out he grew up in a town that I lived in for 12 years and his best friend was the brother of a gal I dated.  Small world.

If you're thinking about a fall ride up north, I would recommend the Tomahawk Fall Color Rally, middle of September.  It's mainly an HD event cause there is a plant in town but there are about 30-40K bikes that show up over a long weekend and it can be a fun time if it ain't snowing.  In fact, if I do end up going myself, the fella that I met in Sturgeon Bay said I should give him a buzz cause he was thinking about going.  Maybe we could all meet up around Stevens Point and ride up together - I know the best scenic roads to take.  Just don't count on finding a hotel within 30 miles.

Been there done the Tomahawk fall color ride... last year it rain/sleet/snowed on us... really chilly. but I'll prob be going back up this year again. My pops friends trailer queen it up there with RVs. so we usually just find a spot. its all good.

we should connect one of these weekends.  i may be going up this labor day to either crivitz or the door again...

    be safe

I will be making a trip on the morning of the 5th to Manitowoc for a show, drive to Sheboygan, stay at a hotel and hit another show on the 6th.  I've invited Nick (lucefer666) to come with and he's going to see if he can switch his work schedule around to join me.  You are welcome to join us if you can get away...
