I will chime in on this. I am 5' 6". At one point I weighed 249lbs. I went to the doc and talked to him about how I am tired all the time. When I would wake up I couldn't really tell that I had been to bed. I was always thirsty. I didn't eat that much food in a day. Maybe 2 meals sometimes only one. Come to find out after a little test we found out that I had Hemochromatosis. This is an inherited diesease (sp) where you body stores all the iron you ingest. Mostly in the liver, but in the heart, pancreas, and kidneys. This in turn has caused me to be diabetic. My sugar was thru the roof. The treatment for this is having a pint of blood drawn ever so often to lower the amount of iron in my bloodstream so that my body will release some that is stored. Having this is like heavy metal poison in a way. After starting the bloodletting, I dropped 20lbs for no apparent reason. My sugar was still high though so I started watching the carbs that I am eating and I am now down to 205.
Now I have said all this just to agree with baclay9. You don't realize the amount or type of calories you are taking in sometimes. Weightloss is possible, but I also know a female friend that was tall and thin. Actually she was a model. Then the doc put her on birth control to regulate things and she ballooned up to over 300 lbs. She watched what and how much she ate and excersized to no avail. These pills messed with her thyroid function. I saw her several years later and didn't recognize her. She was back down to her old thin self. She stopped with the pills.
There is ALWAYS something you can do to help with weight loss. Namely your diet and activity level. This may only take some of it off. But the funny thing is, to lose weight you have to eat. 4-6 times a day. Be active. Get your heart rate up.
And for those that are naturally thin. That don't have to work at being that way. Who's metabolism is faster than an olympic runner and make fun of the people that are heavy... I pray you never have to deal with being heavy. It is easy to take for granted the things that require no effort.
OK off my box now.
