    what should I do

I live in arizona and went on a ride through the mountains yesterday.   Man it was so much fun except,  a couple of times when I would go around a right hand curve my exhaust bracket would rub.  The scary thing is that bracket will no give and one time I got the feeling that when I was rubbing it made my rear end jump.  So I want to get this fixed.  Should I just cut it down or what do you guys thinkbracket 1bracket 2

excuse the dirty bike we got rained on bad on the way back and haven't had a chance to clean it

i think it would look good and be functional if you did a slash cut like this

If you don't want to make a new bracket then just take a little off of that back edge were it looks scraped. Use a angle grinder and put a curve along the back edge to give you an inch of clearance or so. I have a angle grinder if you don't.

    Re: what should I do

I had the same bracket for my street sweepers last year. I had the same problem too.

It did jump my rear tire through a right side lean.

I took it off and flipped it, drilled a second hole for the other bolt, and cut off all that wasn't necessary below the bolt holes. I took it and had it powdercoated. That took care of scraping the plate. The tips of the exhaust started scraping next (which you don't have)........

    Good luck!

thanks everybody,  I went to paintshakerdaves house and we cut it,  and then when I was coming into my subdivison there is a right hand turn and I laid into pretty hard to see what would scrap and it was my mostly my foot pegs and a little of the bracket yet,  so for the most part I fixed it.  I will fix the rest by scraping it off with the roadSmile  thanks for all the input.

    Re: what should I do

all the guys that arent affraid of the lean thing will have this problem no matter what you have hanging on that side of the bike, the only way to avoid this is to, 1 cut everything that is lower or wider then the frame off on that side. 2 ,ride like a sissy and dont lean the bike over like you do now, or 3, lift the bike some to get more ground clearance that will keep the bottom from dragging, the stock bike will drag the frame in the same area if you dont have something to protect the frame ,and it will do the same on the other side, that is the pivot area of the suspension , so if you want a yamaha and a good lean then you will have to get an r1 or something if ground clearance doesnt do enuf for you .   good luck , have fun , btk572
