alaska state law won't allow her to make money from her political exploits (such as a memoir, etc) while she's in office, and the iron isn't going to get hotter for her.  it's a self-serving move, presumably for financial and/or presidential campaign reasons...i'd feel pretty duped if i'd been an alaskan who voted for her.

    I agree.

She's not bright, lacks experience and now proves she's a quitter.

Not bright? Have you even bothered to research anything on her other than her body.  Yeah, I didn' think so . . . . . . . .  . me neither!Wink

But seriously, she was brilliant when she was allowed to speak on her own. It was only  when she was schooled by the McCain people that she looked "not to bright!"

    God first . . . . . . . . always!

Oh I'll agree that she's bright. She's also crafty, cunning, self-serving and a damn liar. While we're at it, Obama's a liar too. Every single day, the paper has a new article about which of GW Bush's policies that Obama will be continuing instead of changing or deleting.

Palin on the other hand, spouted the GOP party line, but just like Bush and McCain, had no intention of living by it.

She screamed about reducing the size of gov't. The GOP grew the Federal gov't.

She screamed about family values while her fast-in-the-pants teen daughter got pregnant. The boyfriend is already out of the picture.

She screamed about reducing federal spending while gladly helping it along.

About the only thing she was honest about was her desire to bring Alaskan natural resources to the market place, but of course doing little to nothing to develop other cleaner sources of domestic energy.

Ugh...Ron Paul is the closest thing we've had to an actual choice and he dropped out. I'm so friggin disappointed.

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

Well the northern neighbor vantage point says. Just from watching the news I'd say she's got about as good a chance of becoming the next president as I do and every time she opens her mouth the odds get worse. She had a better chance when she was the hot soccer mom no one knew anything about.

Brilliant?  Really?  The only time I heard anything good come out of her mouth was at the convention and that was completely scripted by McCain's campaign.  After that it was one blunder after another. Maybe she can get Joe the Plumber to be her running mate.

Two things come to light here. First is the fact that Obama can say anything he wants during the campaign and truly mean what he says, but when he's finally faced with implementing something he promised he has to come to the realization that what's in place may actually better than anything he wants want to replace it with.  Second, are you just now realizing that every politician is a liar? They're all former lawyers . What do you expect?

You have to admit this is a poor example. You've speculated that she had no intention of living by it. Merely your opinion.

Examples please and when you give them please compare them to other past administrations and see how they pan out. I think you'll be surprised.

So you judge her based on a mistake her daughter made? PS: Family values are supported by the fact that they didn't abort the baby. That would have been the easy way out and has been taken by many others in the same situation. It's called taking responsibility for your actions . . . . . . . and not committing legalized murder. Liberally speaking it was the conservative (and moral) thing to do.

I would like to see proof where she gladly helped it along. Got some?

So she offers an opportunity for the country to become oil independent and we don't take her up on it? Dumb move!  And now it's a governor's job to develop cleaner sources of energy?  Get a clue, buy a vowel, post something that credible.  Anyone can fabricate BS and offer opinion as fact.

You've finally stated something that has some fact to it and I can't dispute the fact you're disappointed. Most Americans are . . . .  . self included..

I'm not happy with the current administation or the previous one, and I doubt the next one will be any better. The Presidency is an office that is purchased by the highest bidder and unless we as Americans can come together and vote for a candidate that truly has the our best interest at heart, we'll be reliving this scenario over and over again. My guess is that we will never see that candidate and if we do the House and Senate will see to it that nothing gets done.

It's a sad state of affairs.

    God first . . . . . . . . always!

I'm not a republican troll but what the hell.   You didn't see what she brought to the table or could bring because she was reined in by the Republican in general and McCain's crew specifically.    They had her come across as some damned ignorant hick and believe me, she is anything but.

My take on Palin is that she was thown into every elected position that she's held and even the VP position.

Nope, that's true only for the VP position.

Not bright?  You obviously know VERY little about her. I think we have some of that pot and kettle stuff going on here.

Lacks experience.  What type?  Of the four people who were in that race for Pres and VP,  which one had the most executive experience?   That would be Palin.  I love the way the libs refuse to look both ways on that.  But then again, Sara had zero experience as a community organizer.  I guess that's the important experience isn't it?

proves she's a quitter.   You obviously have sources the rest of us are not privy to.  So what was her reason(s)?  You must know if you say it proves she's a quitter right?

Re: Palin Steps Down...Won't Seek Re-Election (WSJ)

wow, you'd think people around here had opinions about this :)

it seems to me that the only people with a real beef are those voters in alaska that she's abandoning.  her remarks about being a lame duck are very telling, and if i were a constituent, i'd be pretty disgusted with her, and if i had supported her, i'd be livid.  the rest of us should be relieved, because she's done us all a favor, in that she's made herself pretty irrelevant politically, save as a lightning rod (interestingly enough, by resigning, she unloads everything BUT that which she claims to hate, the limelight).

in resigning like this, she proves her critics right, that she lacked the mettle to play on the presidential stage (that flushing sound you heard on July 3 was all the "executive experience" arguments going down the toilet).  i don't care what party you're from, if you can't handle the media pressure, you're not fit to lead on that level, sorry.  all the pissing and moaning about her family is garbage coming from someone seeking office on that level, especially one who adheres to (or tacitly supports) social policies that she or her family cannot live by.  when she took the positions she took, she put her family in play, period.  whine about how unfair it is all you want, but that's reality when you ask others to live by a certain standard.

and really, with Fox News, Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and the like out there, any republican or republican sympathizer that whines about how unfair the press was to Palin is utterly bankrupt in the intellectual honesty department. "terrorist fist bump," anyone?

i have no idea how smart or good sarah palin is a s a person, but i do know that she is not a victim.
