    GD HD Riders...

This is a rant i can make.  He is a good friend of mine.  Just bought his first bike.

I tried to talk him into suzuki C90's, vstar 1100's...  but no, he had to have a harley.  I asked him to at least look at a few other dealers.  Wouldnt have it.  Found an 07 sportster 1200(only HD he can afford) and overpaid(he paid more than i did for my 07 warrior with less miles.)

Then the comes time to buy gear.  I tell him we need to go to cycle gear, they have good gear, and a military discount.  While i run home to get my gear so i can ride his new bike home(he wasnt licensed yet), he goes and buys harley gear, at the harley dealer.  So, afterwards, i take him to cycle gear anyways, because i need new gloves.  He is astonished at the prices.  And a little pissed that he overpaid.  Fast forward a few days.  He's always mumbling about how he likes my bike better, or how he found so and so bike on craigslist for less.  yet he doesnt remember me telling him to shop around, and not get a sportster just to have a "harley"

Today, he says "my wife doesnt like my back seat, what can i do?"  I show him some corbins and mustangs.  An hour later he calls and says, i just bought a seat at the Harley dealer...

hopeless! I really hate the mentality that it all has to be harley.

    Oh well, end rant.

Sounds like he has it bad.  Short of electric shock treatment I'm not sure there is any thing that can be done.

the first sign of incompetence should have been when he bought a sportster, thats a womans bike for crying out loud , then its been all down hill ever since. all you can do at this point is rub it in by letting him eat your dust at every opportunity

I would rather have a Harley than a  C90 or Vstar.

Cycle gear is over priced. There are about 10 places cheaper.

The get'em while they are young.

New Rule- Nothing new goes on the bike...unless its Black!

**Yamaha has "officially" denied that the Midnight Warrior is equipped with a superior engine to the other colors, but that's because the lawyers told em' to say that.**

Put HD decals on everything you want to get rid of at a garage sale and sell it to him at retail.Big Smile  When he ask questions or complains, just tell him you got the items as gifts and couldn't use or return them because you ride a Yamaha.  A fool and his money are soon departed, might as well make the best of it and get mod money.

funny thing, after seeing the C90 and C50, he likes them better....

show me a cheaper place here in SD, especially after our military discount.  And don't say "online"  because i cant buy gear online.  I refuse to buy something that expensive i havent worn already.  My sizes are 2 weird, a shoei helmet i wear a large, some Arai i wear a medium, my gloves are an XL except in joe rocket, most of there gloves are a large....

And he is the same way 6'3 245bs and his gloves are a medium.

    Re: GD HD Riders...

I live in a bit of a perfect world, owning both. Don't get me wrong. My Warrior is my favorite. So was the VStar 1100 before. However, the Road Glide is also a great bike. And, you know what? The accessories were ALL cheaper than those for my Warrior. Paid $8900 for the RS and $15700 for the RG. Dropped over $10,000 in the RS (and still going) while doing quite a bit of the same stuff on the RG for only $5,000. This is due to the fact that Harley models are all very similar. Of course, if the Warrior was like all the other Yammys, I wouldn't own one.

As for the gear... I have some Harley gear and it's top quality. But, I wouldn't say anything I own is any finer quality than the Gericke Yamaha Jacket I wear while riding the Warrior.

I have to admit though... I would NEVER wear Harley gear while on my Warrior OR Yammy gear while on my Road Glide. Does this make me two-faced??? Stick out tongue

Hopefully, your friend will wise up. My gloves are River Road, I have some fine Scorpion gear as well. None of my helmets are Yammy or Harley. I guess I do try to be a bit of an individual.
