Re: GA Riders - Anyone Still Out There?

     Chris,

Eric just came down to get his new puppy and explained the overshoot and lane change in one of the videos.  Glad you weren't involved in anything serious with that stunting Wink.  Now you know how the wife felt when we were turning around to meet Mark and you.  We'll have to plan a ride either down Pine Mountain and surrounding contryside or a north GA ride sometime in the not too distant future.

    Mark,

If you are reading this, my bike STILL has all the mud on it from our ride.  Do you think you could detail both bikes for meBig Smile?  I know my bike would drive you crazy with all the dirt and stuff on it, but my riding boots just dried out from our rain ride. I think all the rest of the gear finally dried out also.

I know the voices aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

I want to die while asleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

Actually, Saturday is supposed to be low 70's and no rain in the forecast right now. Gary-I'm ashamed to say that my bike is probably just as dirty as yours is right now. This is not by choice mind you, but due to water rationing in Cobb County not allowing me to wash it. The road build up is giving me the creepy crawlies man!

I don't know right now what is "planned" for me this weekend by the wife.  I only know that if there is a 10% chance of rain, I'm solo Surprise.  I noticed that my rear brake light is staying on now all the time.  Wondering if wife's bump did something I don't know about.  Turn sigs still work fine.  I made a small exhaust change to the bike and put longer bolts in the pipes with nuts up to the top of them.  Seems to have taken the sharp bark out of the Bubs and changed the power band some (feels like it is making torque sooner, but doesn't rev as fast).  I'll check back on Friday and see what the plans are for the group.

Be sure to check that the rear brake is releasing completely since some of the work you mentioned involved the exhaust.  If I remember correctly there were some post from the early days dealing with this very issue and there were even some instances of the rear brake catching on fire.  I was caused by I believe the brake rod hitting the exhaust and it holding pressure on the brake.  It is worth checking out just to be sure.

PS.  It has only been a couple of days, but man I miss GA and my wife.

My exhaust changes were only changing out the baffle bolt to a longer one and puting nuts on top of it.  Bigger concern is that my wife slid into the back of me on our last rain ride.  I know the left passenger peg is slightly bent and won't come down.  Sounds like I may be checking out a few more things now for damage.  Sorry about you having to leave GA for the job, but I do understand your pain.

Just as good, since I have to go pick up 6 12volt deep cycle marine grade batteries and install them tomorrow in a Gem car.  What sucks, is that I have to also remove the 6 batteries that are in there now.  Each one weighs like 70lbs.  Anyone want to help?Indifferent

I'm on second shift now and don't get off until about 11:30pm on a nightly basis.  Vortex may be a thing of the past unless my shift changes.  On a postive note, I have a speedstar exhaust coming (wife doesn't know yetSurprise).  Anyone put one of the exhuast on before and have suggestions.

Mark, if we ride to Pine Mountain, we can stop by Dad's lake house and wash the bikes up.  Of course, we will have to go back up a .6 miles dirt road with Eric throwing gravel all the way because you know he is not going to be in the back of the group. LOL  I did give my a little clean up for a ride to work the other day.

what did you give for it? i'm thinking about the V&H Pro Pipe with a HD End Cap or the Speedstar powder coated. Don't you get discounts on Yamaha stuff?

Pine Mountain run is my hometown, so we could also hit my folks house since I only let my baby touch paved roads...

You've got a message on your cell phone.  Give me a return call if you want to head down south.
