I am having a lot of bad luck with the service expertise from the local dealers. I never get my bike back with all the problems fixed. Most of the service technicians are 21-28 year old inexperience idiots.

I had a push rod tube that was leaking oil at the base were it bolts down to the crankcase. I told them that it has to be a gasket and they said they would take care of it. I picked it up and they told me that they torqued the 4 socket head screws down and fixed it. I ask them if they test drove it, they said yes and I ask them how far and they said 1-2 miles on these back streets. I told them that they need to get out on the interstate and drive the damn thing up to 65 miles per hour. They told me that they can't do that because of insurance. I went ahead and drove it home and of course I see oil leaking out at the base of the push rod tube.

Also I told them that I was leaking gas from the inside of the Air induction system cover on the left side of the bike. It was a very slow leak but still a concern. They said it checked out fine. Well that's great because they failed to fix that and still leaks gas.

When I picked the bike up I notice that there was a 1 inch scratch about 1/8 thick on my seat lock piece. They said to bring it back and they would touch it up. I told them if its not perfect, I want a new part. Of course no apologies. They did an oil change with my Amsoil an did not give me the half of the 5th quart of oil back because my bike takes about 4.3 Quarts.

I decide I'm not going the dealer route anymore when some friends of mine recommended a couple motorcycle specialist shops. I hope they know and understand Yamaha bikes.

Make 'em fix the warranty stuff but do your own oil changes and general service.  All the info is here.

I have had similar experiences in the short months I've had mine...specifically, my bike is returned with more problems than it started with.  I have become a total believer in this forum.  Everything you need done to your bike - including diagnosis - can be be started here.  I'm not not a "stealer" basher really, but I've learned the hard way (scratched pipes and rear fender) that even a simple oil is a big risk.  Fact is, I've bought a couple bikes now from this same stealer, and have become somewhat friends with the salesman.  He actually came to my house yesterday to remove a rusted trailer ball from his hitch, b/c the shop guys at the stealership couldn't do it.  I had it off in about 30 seconds. 

Bottom line, use and trust the 4M.  I do it all myself now, inlcuding all the basic mods. 

Are you saying a Yamaha dealer made you provide your own oil to do a recall?  Are you running YamaLube 4 dino, or synthetic?  As for pushrod tubes leaking, of the guys who say it leaked, most say they, or someone, did some work first, then it leaked.
