Another Victim of the FJR Syndrome...

I went up to the mountains in Ruiodoso, NM this weekend with my wife on her scooter and I took the Warrior.  We got behind a pair of sport tourers and I felt the sudden need to keep up.  Here I am throwing sparks in the corners trying to keep the guys in sight and they eventually ran off and left me.

When we reached the hotel there are 3 more sport tourers in the parking lot.  And then the sickness set in...

I really want another sportbike.  Not another R6 but an FJR1300.  I've read a lot of posts about this affliction on this site and thought it would never happen to me.

Some riders can afford 2 bikes but as I'm looking to buy a house soon, I can't.  So I think the Warrior has to go.  It's painful to say out loud.  But, I really miss the whine of an inline four and the saddle just felt like home when one the guys let me sit on his.

So has anyone else caught this bug lately or am I the only moron who wants a new bike every two years?

"Aren't you tired of the scooter babe?  I think we need to get you something so you can keep up with the Warrior and still be comfy on long trips.  Yup, I think we should get you a new FJR."

    That's how I'd play it.Big Smile

She's a salesmen for that thing... She'll never sell it.  Everywhere we stop people take pictures and ask her about it.  My warrior gets ignored like a red headed step child.  They expect it from a Warrior, but it's really funny to watch her blow past Harleys on the scooter.

The wife still wants to start a girls scooter gang that rides twisties and then goes shoe shopping.

I would love to get a FJR, but I think my next bike will be a new Goldwing.  I know their big, and for old guys, but I Love them.  Comfy, surprisingly powerful, reliable as could be, decent fuel mileage, and dare I say look cool.  I fear that my legs would feel cramped up on the FJR-i like them out in front of my if i'm doing any kind of distance.  This is my second summer on the warrior, and that is my longest bike relationship thus far.  If I felt I could afford a new Goldwing now I would probably would get one, but I know I would regret selling the warrior, so I am glad that I am poor and am forced to keep the warrior.Yes

Forgiveness is between them and god....it's my job to arrange the meeting.

When I sold the Triumph R3 I almost bought a BMW K1200R Sport w/ panniers before I decided it was the Warrior for me. That Bimmer was FAST and comfy I thought.

A friend of mine is thinking of selling his GS1100 so I think I will pick that up but I love my warrior too much.

Yeah I know what ya mean, course Iam not going the sportbike route again, After putting on 1500 miles a few weeks ago over a 5 day trip on the warrior, and after riding my brothers Roadking, I started hunting, ended up purchasing a Screaming Eagle Roadglide, definently not as fast as my warrior but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the comfort and the tunes.......

The FJR is a really cool bike. A friend of mine in Louisiana got rid of his Yamaha Caledar stretched out custom Roadstar for a FJR. He swears by it and vows never to buy another twin. He actually bought Baron's Lil' Nasty from him after he bought the FJR, chopped it up and won a few shows with it but then sold it. He decided he just couldn't part with the FJR.

As for me, if I were into the sporties I would definitely own a FJR. I'm 41 and the father of a two year old son, I slowed way down after my son was born and stopped taking as many chances on the road. But, 141 ponies can be influential.

Part of the desire is fueled by the speed...  And it sounds just like my R6 did, without the backbreaking ergos.  I will miss the Warrior but I think I was always a sportbike guy at heart.  I was trying to slow down in my old age. ( Although the warrior didn't help me slow down too much Big Smile )

I'm going to buff up some of the paint and you'll probably see my warrior up for sale or trade soon.

I can't decide if I should sell the touring stuff (Hard bags, windshield, floorboards, sissy bar) separately or all together though? Any thoughts?

Yeah, there isn't really a defense for being caught in a moment like that.  My wife has that framed on her desk at work.

She tries every now and then to race me on the Warrior.  I'm not sure but I think she actually believes she might win.

I can understand your deisre to change. I'm the same way with cars and bikes. Every couple of years I get bored and want something different. I now ride an FZ1. Love it but if I had the time to do alot of touring, I'd go with something like the Connie, FJR or maybe even the Goldwing.
