We did a monster garage in MN and KJA did this to his bike. I am not by any means a confident person when it comes to these things, but after seeing it done i am pretty sure that i coud do it by myself, but would rather have another set of hands to help. When you put the purple plate on, make sure that you kind of twist/spin it a bit so that it fully engages the bracket in the clutch housing. When we did the one in MN it looked like it was on fine and after getting everything all sewen back up and torqued down it wouldn't grab. So after pulling things back apart and a few head scratches is was something that small as to make sure the plate was fully engaged. I have not done this to my bike, yet hopefully, but man it felt sweet having that clutch spring back.
Good luck...
Even a fish wouldn't get in to trouble if it kept its mouth shut...
