    Engine Mod questions

Ok guys  and ladies, I've got the itch for more power already. I just traded a vulcan 900 custom in on my Warrior last week. Over all I'm happy. I love the bike. But, Since my first bike was a ZX12  followed by a second ZX12 and then a zx14  that I borrowed for awhile. I have pretty much already made up my mind that modifications are necessary. I already know that I need to get in touch with Church for his V-BAK. and I ordered my Muzzys pipe today. i got a PCIII with the bike. So my basics are already covered. But I've been talking to a friend of mine that works at my local dealer, and he is suggesting that I get the yamaha cams, pistons , clutch spring, intake cover Velocity stacks and springs. Maybe the front fairing and the lower cowl as well.. but my questions is does anyone have these mods, and what kind of power can I expect once I have everything installed ,broken in and dyno tuned. I know it's not a sports bike but she is a power cruiser and I'd like to teach my friends with their too fast and furious attitudes some respect for the superior power of a V-twin. In an ideal world I'd like to see 110-125HP. Thanks for the help everyone.

Those engine mods will make a difference for you, but if you get the Churchkey VBAK you don't need the velocity stacks. I think the VBAK is better because it does have the filters. The velocity stacks don't have much for filtering. The fairing and the lower cowl are for looks only, maybe you reduce some wind resistance.

The VBAK includes velocity stacks. V=Velocity.  VBAK = velocity big air kit.  The difference is these velocity stacks have straight ends with K&N filters, which is a real convenience.  The other shape for a velocity stack is a fluted intake end, but I gotta tell you that air filters don't like that shape.  The VBAK is the way to go.

If you want big power, spend the money (around 5K) and get a turbo.  There are several riders on the 4M with turbo bikes and they are all in excess of the numbers you are looking for.  Stock motor is already turbo friendly with 8.3:1 pistons.  Just plan on switching to chain drive as the factory belt has issues with HP above 130 I think.  Patrick Racing has a kit for our bike if you want to check them out.

I know the voices aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

I know a guy with a polaris or victory with a 100ci engine pulling an honest 125hp on the dyno with no turbo. I see no reason why you could not do that with a yamaha power plant. Along with the other mods mentioned you may need to get the heads worked professionally detail the interals aka balance and blueprint. I went from a 1k sporty bike to the warrior and it did take a while to get used to a torque engine over a hp one. With the warrior screw the hp and focus on the torque and you will be tuff to keep up with from stop lite to stop lite.

If the wrench is not in my hand it does not touch my warrior.

100ci getting 125hp. Only with NOS. My 108ci with cams, headwork etc puts out 107hp & 136ftlbs. There is no way in this life time will you get 125 hp out of a Warrior unless you run NOS or Turbo. End of Story.

Ok well since 125HP seems to be a bit much; how would you all suggest to build up something with monster torque?

Well, not being able to get 125 HP in this lifetime without NOS or turbo may be a bit of an overstatement, I'm pretty sure patrick racing was making more power than that on their prostar bike.

The warrior has pretty decent torque numbers stock so everything you do with performance in mind will increas those. It's the standards though, displacement, better performing intake and exhaust. How far you take these and in which order depends on funds, time and willingness. There are several big bore options, two or three cam options and a variety of expertise in head work. Your biggest bang for the buck is a vance and hines pipe and a BAK. After that, HC pistons and cams you know the tune.

Quickest way to those numbers are either Nitrous or a turbo setup. Naturally aspirated..., doable with very deep pockets but there aren't mant shops who can do this for the roadstar motor.

Agreed... the PR 122ci kit is close, but I hear with all the machine work needed, the kit, and labor it's about $8,000

Best go with the turbo... besides, who doesn't like the sound of a turbo charger winding upDevil
