Ireland, when is the best time to visit?

My wife will be graduating with a master's degree soon and I want to take her and my daughter to Ireland (from southern Arizona).  When is the best time to visit?  I would like to visit when the weather is pretty good but also when the tourist crowds aren't to large.  Any tips on what time frame and places to visit would be?  I am not sure how long we would stay or where we will go/stay, everything is still in the idea stage.  Thanks!  Tim

Re: Ireland, when is the best time to visit?

the uk schools break up just about now! - and as a result everything is expensive and a tad hectic [hotels etc] until first week of september when it all suddenly goes mush quieter and cheaper [schools back] - the weather over here can be a lot better in september and even october, than june july when [as it did again this year] it rains alot! - it's a b*gger we get the longest day and often longest warm rain fall [not fair] - i did a grand tour of s.ireland and n.ireland for work 2 years ago - 3 weeks on the road started in cork and zig zaged to the top - i must say i found s.ireland the most holiday feeling - and a friendly bunch of people - if you visit belfast as an example - the extremes can be a bit sudden - the kerbs painted red white and blue and bunting everywhere in local royalist areas and in others the tri-colour flys with ira type murals on house walls - and just like most cities it's a few hundred yards from cafe lined high streets - i'm pleased to have had the time their - hope that helps for timing?

    Tomba,

Thanks!  Thats helps.  when looking at vacation packages, they hardly ever mention when the weather s best or how crowded things get and when.  I would like to surprise her with the trip but going down to apply for visas may let the surprise out.  Thanks again.  If anyone else has any tips or suggestions I would be more than happy to hear them!Big Smile
