I went on a short weeked trip with
some riding buddies this past weekend. We started Friday night heading
up the NYS Thruway towards the Catskill mountains. We hop off the
Thruway and head West on route 28
at about 8:00pm. We ended up stopping to check the map somewhere in the
Catskills since it is now pitch black and semi raining. It was at this
point, my previously not so bad, rear tire was showing belts. ***. I
swear I checked the tread before I left and I thought I could squeeze
another 700 miles out of he; I was wrong. We make it to Liberty, NY and find a hotel for the night.
Cut to the next day.
We're in Liberty, NY with the expectation of getting to a buddies house in Beach Lake, PA
and do some riding around the Poconos and immediate area. However, now
that I am in Liberty and ~150 miles from home I decide that if I can't
get a tire installed somewhere on the route I will head home with my
tail between my legs. I call up a bunch of dealers around the area
looking for any tire that would work (but always asking specifically
for a Dunlop D220 first) with expectations set low. After a dozen
dealers and a bunch taking my contact info saying they'd call me back
things were looking grim. Just as I'd given up, one did call me back!

For
the trip home Sunday we got stuck in those thunderstorms from 287 and
Palisade Pkwy all the way down the Palisades to the GWB. From the GWB
home it was cloudy, but no rain and semi heavy traffic.
Overall it was a pretty memorable trip.
