Why I won't go to Central Yamaha in Plano, TX again...

The last 2 times I went to Central I was less than satisfied with the level of service I received, but it is very close to me so I have settled in the past. No more.

I finally stopped procrastinating and called Yamaha directly to see what Recalls were done before I bought the bike. The Yamaha C/S girl was very helpful and even gave me the exact dates that the prior recalls were completed. The tranny & tank recalls were both done already, with the TPS and pick-up coil left to go. The bike has been showing some symptoms of both so I wanted to get it in fairly soon to have the work done.

I called Central to see when I could make an appointment and the conversation went something like this:

Me: I need the TPS and pickup coil done, when can I make an appointment?

Cental: We are already almost a week behind so just leave it with us and we should be able to get to it in 3-5 days

Me: well, I would really prefer to make an appointment so we can get it in and out.

Central: Just leave it with us and we'll get to it when we can.

Me: Can I bring it in on a Saturday?

Central: Saturday is first come, first serve and you will still need to leave it for a few days

I wasn't entirely enthusiastic about this response so I decided to call Stadium Yamaha in Irving (almost 30min out of the way for me) to see if I had a better response. Here is how the conversation went this time:

Me: I need the TPS and pickup coil done, when can I make an appointment?

Stadium: I tell you what, I know I have the coil in stock, let me see if I have the TPS. Do you mind holding?

    Me: no problem

[on hold for about 1 minute]

Stadium: I show I have a few in stock, do you mind holding on for one more minute while I go put my hands on it to confirm that I have it here?

    Me: no problem

[on hold for about 1 minute]

Stadium: Yep, I've got it right here... when would you like to bring it in?

Me: How long do you think it will take?

Stadium: Bring it in when we open and we'll have it done by the time we close same day

Me: Can I bring it in on a Saturday?

Stadium: We are completely booked this Saturday, but we are free the following Saturday and can have it done same day.

    Me: DONE!

I hadn't even thought to ask Central if they even had the parts in stock, and clearly they didn't care to find out either. Their attitude has almost always been the same "we don't need your business" crappy attitude. Since they don't need my business then I won't bother giving it to them, no matter how close they might be. I'd much rather go 30min out of my way to get good service and have a place that clearly goes above and beyond to provide that good service.

Its amazing how far some places will go to help a customer and how little some will do and still expect your business. BS IMO.

stadium is the ONLY place i will take my bike. Jason, Gary, and the gang are all top notch in my book. I go in there from time to time just to hang out, And unlike most other service departments i have been too, they seam to know what is going on.

oh and they check this site from time to time....

Jason, can i get another discount? hehe

ride it like you stole it!

I bought some stuff off the internet from them and drove over to pick it up. Even with the sales tax, they were cheaper than other places with the shipping.

Ok, I did my part, can I have a discount too?

I would ask for a discount, but a recall is free anyway Stick out tongue

.....unless they want to throw on a 240 while it is in there Cool

In all seriousness, just wanted to share my little saga as a word of warning for anyone looking to take their bike to Central.

Its a shame some dealers have to be like that. They give the good ones a bad name.

I bought my first Warrior from Smokey and told him prior to me showing up that I was negotiating a deal on a used Warrior in Iowa and that I wanted to test ride a used Warrior he had on the floor first before closing the deal on the Iowa bike.  He said no problem so I met my wife there that afternoon.  When we arrived, Smokey informed me that he had found out that the used Warrior was from a friend of Jason and that it was a consignment bike and that I couldn't test ride it.  He did however let me and my wife test ride a brand new Warrior anyway, knowing that I had a great deal on a used Warrior.  After we test rode the Warrior, Smokey gave me a SMOKIN deal on it and I rode home on it!  Parts has ALWAYS helped me locate what I am looking for.  I love Stadium Yamaha!!!!!   Ask Jason to show you his cooling vest!

I refuse to tiptoe gingerly through life, only to arrive safely at death.

I love Stadium Yamaha too! Gary always gives me rides home when my bike's getting worked on there. They are awesome, never rip you off, treat you great, and make you feel like a valued customer. Sometimes I just stop in just to say hi!

*Oh! And every once in a while I see a Yamaha add on TV, and at the end it says "Stadium Yamaha, Irving, rated #1 Yamaha dealership in customer satisfaction."
