    curiositywasframed:

Any event that someone would hop accross the pond from the Great Isles of the Brits for is worth keeping.  I couldn't come this year, but I'm already making plans for next.  Move it for five, but at least let me get my chance at four!!!

*sigh* I guess it really isn't up to me anyway...Hey Warriordog, if they move it, do you wanna go camp up there anyway?  We could call Cadfather, Lemming, Preach, and hey...even Ed and the gang to see if they'll meet us there!  I mean, it wouldn't be warriorfest (because they're moving it) but we could make an open invite for everyone who wanted to come...Big Smile

Yeah I'd go with a small group too.  We can go up there anytime with a small group.  But, the coordinated effort of everyone from this site and their friends getting there from all over the country and the UK,  and being there in the same time frame is what gets the  adrenaline pumping.  When you see 40 or 50 or more bikes cutting across the backroads, it's exciting along with the camaraderie each night after the rides.

The IronHorse  is a good suggestion ( I heard it is a lot nicer than the KSL but a little more $)  or the Pumpkin Center.  Although I would rather stay out of TN.  The Blount County LEO's and THP are just not that friendly.  Didn't I see some camping sites around the lake at the CROT.  I thought I saw something like that on the post that said the CROT was For Sale.  Maybe it was just the owner's house.  A Short walk or ride to the CROT for Breakfast and Dinner.   Ride all day and come back to the CROT each evening would be good.   I remember the store owner coming out to the pumps one day and telling us to remind the rowdy ones they would be told to leave and not welcomed back,  so that may be out if we get too loud.

You mean like April 27 to May1,

obtw it was nicer last week then it is up there now...Its a crap shoot no matter what you do.

Kris,  The weather really is a Crap Shoot.  But I'm talking on my end.  Here we don't get any spring.  We go directly from winter to summer.  Normally here it is not pleasent riding weather until mid to late May.  Last week was great here, but that was the exception, and there was a lot of sand on the back roads.

I'm just thinking that we could pick up more people from the north if we did it a week later.  Also, if we went a bit later we could ride instead of trailer.  Something to think about is gas prices.  Ed,  How much did you spend on gas this trip.  And it is going to be worse next year.  Granted you had to bring back 2 bikes, so even if you had an ironclad guarantee of good weather, you had to trailer.

I understand the concept of wanting a change.  In a lot of respects, I agree with that idea.  But I just think the general area has a lot of practicality to it.  If someone can come up with a specific area, with good roads, accomodations and is motorcycle friendly, I'd love to hear about it.   In the meantime, I think we should contine to discuss and listen to each other.

If it stays at the dragon, which I would support, I would have to say that the cabins that Dwight and JD stayed at WF2 would be the best option for the main hub. 3-5 cabins that are co-located with one another and would be reasonable on the cost. Ed you should look at the Hiawasee, Ga thing if you are really considering moving the event.

I have been to all three Warriorfest's and it gets better every year. The KSL has been the main hub for all three years with no problem. There is also The Ironhorse  just around the corner if you don't like the KSL. The Warriorfest @ the Dragon has been a huge success , why are we trying to change it , leave it alone and start the sign up sheet.Just my opinion Big Smile

    Messx03,

If have been following the thread you should have seen that there were some problems with the people that run the KSL. Now for those people to call up ed, and insult or accuse him to the point he says he wont come back, I say we support him and move our set up some where else. Besides that Ed is not the only person that had a problem with the KSL. I say that the people are supporting the idea warrior fest at the gap, back up our bretheren that have been wronged by KSL, and move our show else where in support of them. I dont know about you, but Dwight, and JD said at WF2 they rented cabins in robbinsvilles that had a garage that could hold 15-20 bikes, and there where 3 cabins that held at least 8 in each cabin. There is also the two wheel  down the road. The cabin could serve has the main hub of nighttime activities. As far a camping, that *** is overrated after 250 mi of riding everyday. If you throw in my perspective of having to go to DTX, CAX, Op. Moave Viper, Boat Det. as a work ups for an upcoming deployment you guys can hold that camping thing on your own, and I'll just ride to where ever you are. I am planning on being there again, but it doesn't look like a reality.

As far as other areas, look at the Hiawasee, GA, Blood mtn areas, there is alot of really good riding in those spots.

Before this gets out of hand, keep the comments about KSL to your own, not everyone has had these problems. There's two sides to the story and only those involved know what the facts are. The parties involved should be able to come to a resolution, if not, so be it.

    JD,

    Nice shot!

Whoa there Carey , lets not get in a pissing contest over this.I have been following this thread . I for one have never had a problem with the people at the KSL .There were people at WF1 and 2 who didn't have good experience with the KSL either but I see no reason for me not to go back there because of that.Obviously more people had good experience's than bad because of the attendance this year. Im sorry for Eds issue but he seems to have taken care of that by choosing not to stay there ever again. I'm all for supporting our "bretheren" , just ask those members that have been here a while, I'll go to bat for anyone . I also have reasons for not wanting to get a cabin , 3 kids in college   and other family vacations that come way before this. As far as camping , I appreciate your service and what you do to prepare for it , I have great respect for those that serve and have served , I have several family members that are in service and have served in the past but just because you don't want to camp doesn't make it sh!t for the rest of us. I for one love to camp and do not think its over rated.I have riden both Hiawasse and Blood Mtn areas and loved it and if the group see's fit to move the fest then I'll be there. In my opinion the Dragon and Warriorfest are one in the same but I also think Alabama will win the National Championship every year Confused

I personally had a great time, this being my first year. I had no problem with the KSL but a patch of grass is the same anywhere. What made my trip memorable was the people from this forum. I plan to attend next year and will be with the majority.

Re: Warrior Fest IV "Open Discussion"

At the end of the day all that really matters is that those that attend have a good time riding, hanging out, etc.  I've been to all 3 WF's and I,  for one, love going to the Dragon because I am really not  gonna get that kind of riding experience up here in Ohio.  11 miles of excitement for me that I will never get tired of. The country is just plain beatiful down there and the roads are for the most part pristine.  On the other hand, change is good and I know there are so many excellent riding areas other than the Gap.  I travel 10+ hours to get to WF and like Sangthor will pretty much go anywhere that I can travel to in a day.  I also haven't had any problems with KSL but I wouldn't mind staying somewhere different.  I spend most of my time riding anyway so as long as I have a place to sleep, I'm good.

I personally am good with whatever.  I will be there....The Gap or somewhere else. I hope at least most of us can come to an agreement and maintain a good core group to the event because it is the people that makes this event not the locale or the campground.

This is a great topic and I hope the discussion continues.

Re: Warrior Fest IV "Open Discussion"

We  need to consider that @ times we are a boisterous group @ late hours.I think most other m/c campgrounds & RV parks have "quiet hours" that would not be consistent with our style. The great interaction around the campfire til early hours & other shenanigans(potato gun ,blocking tent entrances etc)are a part of the tremendous experience. Websites for other proposed parks should be checked concerning these rules.I think most will agree that we have been able for he most part  to be ourselves @ KSL.I think that the character of WF would change if we were under "noise curfew" rules or the like.Overall my impression is that most attendees felt well treated @KSL.Maybe some of our special group should be "appointed" to discuss concerns of some of our members concerns with Mo.I'll volunteer to if enough of the group feel that is OK.BTW I'm sore as hell & am considering "training wheels" for my ride.Everyone Be Safe'''''''''

For me WF is about great riding and hanging out with awesome peeps. I look forward to it every year. I am already missing you guys.

I no longer stay at ksl but I always show up to party with my friends. I am comfortable staying a couple miles away in a motel with every ammenity for about the same price as camping in a mini cabin thing. 2 or 3 can split a room that has real beds, bathroom, heat, air T.V., fridge, oven m.w.,c.m. The rooms are about 40 bucks a nite.  I can cook my own meals and be self sufficiant in a quite  place.

It's hard to find a campground that is nite friendly. We are not a bunch of rowdy hooligans but we do get a little loud in a good way.

I would stay away from the Ozarks in the summer months. Heat and humidity blows.

Va. LEO's are not cool especially for natives.

The law does not usually show up at the gap in April unless someone crashes.

By the way a 21 year old crashed on his Busa Sunday eve. He left a 230' -7" skwidmark before he left the road and hit a tree. He died on the scene. Sorry to go off topic.

Carey's idea of a cluster of houses close together sounds good.  No camping, so the night temps wouldn't matter.  The Ohio group in one, the NC guys in one, Fl Boys in one, the TN GA guys in one and so on.  I just would be super pissed if someone kept me up snoring.

I just don't know where Bad AssRam would fit in!!!!Big Smile   (ASSRAM !!!  get it?)Cool

Rob, three of us put the bikes in a trailer. With stopping for gas, to eat, and driving up the long hills, it took about 13 hrs and three tanks of gas.
