    Carlini bars

I've searched high and low and can't find an answer to this one.  I'll try to make this long story short....

I ordered some 1.5" Carlini Clean Sweep bars from Phats.  They sent me the wrong bars, they sent the Original T-bar instead.  When I got the wrong ones I started doing a little more research. Anyway, on Phats website they sell two Carlini bars.  The Clean Sweep and the Super Sweep. The Clean Sweeps say they are 7" rise and 7 & three-quarters" pullback.  Then the Super Sweep description says they have 3" more pullback than the Clean Sweeps, but the measurements are 7"rise and 7 & one-quarter" pullback.  That doesn't really add up..... From that description it would seem the Super Sweeps should have more like 10" pullback.

I also don't see any Super Sweeps on the Carlini website with 7" rise and 7" pullback.

My question is does any one know if these measurements are correct?  Or are they selling discontinued bars or what???

One other thing.....does anyone have the Clean Sweep 7" rise and pullback bars? How are they compared to the stock bars?  I was rethinking my purchase because they might be too short for me (not enough pullback).  I was going to return the wrong bars that they sent me and get the Super Sweeps, but we can't seem to figure out what the measurements are on the ones that they are selling.

I've talked to Phats and Carlini on the phone a few times and they haven't been much help, so I figured I'd ask the real experts! Cool

This doesn't really answer your question because I do not have the clean sweeps. I do have the super sweeps and they pull back considerably from stock. I actually sit pretty close to straight up. The difference for me is having my upper back (which I blew a disc in two years ago) cramping up after a days riding and staying that way for a month or riding all day, day after day for three weeks. With the super sweeps, sit on your bike, put your hands about where the gas cap ends (closest to you) and shoulder width. That'd be pretty close.

The Carlini's that I ordered from Phats were specifically ordered in dimensions of 9", 11" and 31" plus I might add. I ordered another set for WarStar that were identical to mine. Carlini offers the Super Sweeper in two different dimensions and can be ordered either or from Phats or PCS. Phat's will reduce the price if one tells them it cost less at another vendor...

    Phats - Carlini 1.5" Super Sweep Bars 9" rise 8 1/2" pullback 31 1/2" width

Might make a difference to somebody on pullback, and also the Phats are almost $70 more than PCS. Also, Phats has 1.25" bars in same dimensions and cheaper. Just trying to help with as much info as possible. Stay Cool![8D]

    Re: Carlini bars

So, I guess the description for the super sweeps on the Phats site are comparing them to a different set of clean sweeps than the ones they sell on thier site ....

Oh well, I guess I will have to try these Clean Sweeps and see how they feel.  It looks like the two bars Phats sells are about the same measurements.

     Thanks for the info guys!

    Re: Carlini bars

Can anyone comment on the feel of the 7" rise 7 3/4" pullback Clean Sweeps in comparison to the stock bars??

Do they feel further away? closer? about the same??

I have a 7: rise 8" pullback cp 1125's and they feel just a bit further of a reach but not that much..... i'm 6'3"....

Remember you are gaining rise, so I think it's more of a arm position change. Like instead of your arms pointin to the 8 o'clcok position your are more at the 9 o'clock position....... so if you could try this...... sit on your chair.....straigthen your arms out..... point them at a 8 o'clock position towards the floor...... now if you move them up a little you have gained rise but you have lost pullback, because you now have a longer reach....while at this time you have not moved you back's angle....

Now loosing 6" of pullback might make you lean in a little but it's not gona make you reach 6" more......unless you keep the rise at the same stock level...

Anyways this is the way I came to solve this rise, pullback thing...

It's not the first time that Phats screws up their item description...... They probably just got the specs wrong... no biggie....When I bought the cp 1125's they had the descriptions wrong in the web, but the item they sent was the correct spec.... Don't pay too much attention to the specs on Phats just go by the model number and verify the specs on the fabricators web...

You will be leaning over and reaching for the bars big time IMO based on my stock '04' bars which were approx 8"+ rise and 11"+ pullback when mounted to the stock risers.

I would suggest returning the bars and purchasing the Pacific Coast Star exclusive super sweeps or negotiate an exchange with the vendor as Darkstar did!

Yea, thats what I figured, but the Carlini website doesn't have the model numbers on it.  I called Carlini and tried to ask someone and the guy was kinda rude and all he kept repeating was "the only ones we make for Yamaha are the 9" x 11.5"."

Then he pretty much hung up on me...  Angry

I thought...... acording to this web: http://www.sideroadcycles.com/AmericanMotorcycles/Handlebars/Stock_Bars.html

that the stock rise on the '04 was about 5-1/2".... not 8"..????

Don't believe everything you read on the web and never ever assume Wink

You can do as i did and measure them on your kitchen counter and don't forget to add in the stock risers as i did if you're comparing them to TT's Hmm

    ROFLOL.......

Now, I KNOW you did not just take that pic....lol...... you must of had to prove this point before...lol

Never though of measuring myself.... now not to disbelieve.... you made a believer out of me.... but did you have the bars at the same angle as they were when on the bike when measured.... they look about right, but if you knwo what I mean if you lean them foward a little you will have less height.....

It's just that I don't remember my grips being perfectly horizontal when the stock bar was on my bike.... but that could be my bad memory...

.....LOL.... i still cant believe you had that pic....
