Warrior taking off (almost) like a Busa!?

My mechanic told me that the Warrior is comparable to the Busa when making a power take off!! Well, at least for a few hundred yards you can really piss off some top sport bikes in 1st and 2nd gear, then when they reach their HP rev. lower limit they, of course, smoke you out.

I started applying a different technique when taking off from red lights and some sport biker with a big engine is on the same line with me. I rev it up to, huh, maybe 1700-2000 RPM, and keep that RPM constant, and when green light pops in, I release the clutch (sort of gradually, heh), and the next thing I see in my mirrors is that the sport biker abandoned any idea of racing me. Well, I had so many occasions to see that the traffic stopped at following red light (maybe 200 feet away) didn't even budge yet at green light when I am approaching them and look for a path for lane splitting. Is this technique used in drag racing?!

Try same thing but at 3500rpm, now that's take off.

after going from a busa to a warrior their is no way some one can say a warrior takes off like a busa. first off you can hit near 100 in first gear on a busa as fast as you can blink. don't get me wrong the torque on a warrior is much greater feeling than a busa, but the shear hp from a busa dwarfs the warrior. just my two cents

True statement however, the only thing you're taking off is rubber from the rear tire!!

Now try it with 4500 rpm, 28 psi in the rear tire and keep the front wheel within reach of the ground. [:D]

PS: You must not go into twists with that kind of rear tire pressure!!!

your mechanic is on crack.. the warrior is a nice bike but the busa is in a league of its own, i own a Turbo Busa and a near stock busa both will spank my built warrior. that i had before the recall from hell

heh, dundee I meant a take off that gives you some lenght, without wearing out the rear tyre. I mean, burning tyres on start up in a race is just a waste of time and rubber. What surprises me is that there's no video available on a race between a Warrior and a sport bike!! Everybody is speaking only about Harley getting smoked out by Warriors. How about smoking a sport bike?! At least a 600 cc, please!!

A good rider on a Warrior will take most 600s through the 1/8 mile and will surprise many of the bigger bikes. Stop light to stop light there are very few who can keep up. After that the weight and lack of HP combine and the Warrior is through.

I've gotten the jump on all the bikes I've ever come against. I stay ahead till about 60/70 mph. From there, all I see is tail lights...LOL Then again, I've hung with a pack of sport bikes at about 120 mph on the freeway, lane splitting and weaving. Should have seen the looks on their face when I ended up 2nd in the pack once everyone got into clear freeway. Of course I got home and realized that wasn't the smartest thing to do.[;)]

Basically, it's all in fun and we all know the Warrior is a great bike, but by far not the fastest. I'm hoping Yamaha wakes up in 2006 and puts some extra kick into it. Then again, by that time I'll hopefully be sitting on an R1. Red 2004 R1 and a Red 2002 Warrior. That would look awesome in the garage!![:D]
Instructions for riding a Warrior: 1) sit on bike, 2) start bike and idle till warm, 3) pull in clutch and put in gear, 4) release clutch and rip on the throttle, 5) {VERY IMPORTANT!!} HOLD THE F*** ON!!!, 6) Enjoy!! Side effects may include whiplash, wrinkle free skin, and an evil smile resembling the "Joker".

lol, rippin, same for me, at 70 I stop the race!! But what a delightful sensation!! The grunt of the Warrior is marshmallowing the knees of many sport bike riders!! It's so unmotivating to see your dream sport bike being smoked at the red light by a "cruiser". When they wake up from the shock they get out the best of their bikes and outperform the Warrior, but as we all know a surprise attack is devastating in most of the wars!! Some people just cannot get used to the idea that a cruiser can give them a bad daylight dream, even if for just 200 yards!! It's time for some bikers to aknowledge the fact that Arnold Schwartzenegger stepped down in the arena packed with Bruce Lee's, and kicking some ass with the big 102 cc!! It's the same as in martial arts open contests!! If you are a big and heavy fighter and your opponent is lighter and faster, you can KO him in the first-second round with some few, heavy blows. If you just let the thinner guy get you tired for 4-5 rounds, then you might get beaten!! That's the rule of the Hulks: smash them with one blow, don't let them do their leg work!

Once you get over the new bike thrills and come back to reality you will realize the Warrior is NOT in the same league as a sportbike. I don't have a 'busa but I do have an FZ-1 and I say from my experience the Warrior is not in the same league as the FZ performance wise. It sure as hell wasn't as quick as my bud's FJR. On the open freeway the FZ will hit 130+ in the same time as it would take the Warrior to break 100+.

Now, take another drag on that Warrior bone and inhale deeply, it's a good hit while it lasts....:-)

Re: Warrior taking off (almost) like a Busa!?

I have to agree with some of these guys on the warrior vrs some of the bigger torquer sport bikes, I love my Warrior, but my totally stock FJR1300 will smoke it, but when I do the heads and valves I wonder how much better my warrior will be against my FJR in the eight of a mile? They both are very easy to launch, ive had different big bore sport bikes before ,but they were a little more peaky and finiky off the line, but my FJR just boggies , gee I hope I never have to make a decision on wich one to get rid of?,Why did I just say that???

02 silver FZ1 (mama's ride, stage one kit)

Stiletto, RDwarrior, I don't think anyone here honestly believes that the Warrior will outrun a sport bike. The question was about launching (appropriate huh?[:D]) a Warrior and sport bike. You put a machine that has approximately 100 ft/lbs of torque up against one that only has about 50-70 ft/lbs of torque, the higher torque motor is going to make the quicker start. Now when the torque curve falls off, we are at the mercy of the higher horsepower sport bikes. 74 hp vs approx. 160 hp isn't much of a fight.[:D]

Re: Warrior taking off (almost) like a Busa!?

i have to say this, at the risk of sounding like a parent or pansy but i'm gonna anyway. ( believe me, i do alot of stupid crazy stuff on my bike so i have no room to talk) but, be careful launching on a green unless you're in the sticks... i dont know what its like where you live, but people die here doin that S$%^ multiple times a year cause around here when the light turns yellow, and red, there are always 2-4 dumbasses that scream thru the intersection. pisses me off so much. every time i see that, it makes me think about everyone i know in the "biker family" (ok i'm done)

this warrior Vs. sportbike topic has come up a few times and i just dont get it. i've only ridden two sportbikes.. a 2002 cbr600F4i that my neighbor owned and kept in my garage so i had full access to it, and the 2002 CBR954rr that i owned. the low end power on the 954 was awesome, something i would imagine any 600 would be missing till 5k-7k rpm. those of you that say the warrior would beat a sportbike, how far are you saying the warrior stays in the lead. i cant see it being very far at all. the 600 would wind up to 5k where the power starts real quick and can wind up to 13k putting down power the whole way. their torque IS super low, but still.
