drive belt snaped

Hey i was just wondering if the gates belt was the best aftermarket price for a new drive belt. Because I snapped mine the other day. I left from a stop sign pretty hard and from 2nd to 3rd is when it snapped. So I called my local yamaha dealer and the said 400 bucks brand new I thin that a little crazy. So I went to phats performance and they have a gates belt for about 160. And the bike has about 24000 miles on an 04 and its still the original belt from factory. I think that a pretty good life span for a drive belt.

Been reading a while but finally took the min and a half to sign up. This place is great. Ive been oggling the warrior and let just say others for a couple months now and with any luck will be the owner of a new 08 Warrior within a week. I'm upgrading like so many others from the sportbike world, I currently have an 03 SV650S in Copper and though its a great bike and has served me well the call to cruisers is getting more and more powerful. At the end of the day the warrior scores more points in the overall category for me. 10 min in the photo gallery you all have made here will tell you it can be made to do damn near anything. Here is my question to anyone with an opinion.

It's looking like Im getting an 08, candy red, for 8999.00 plus Tax/tags etc. My local shop still has some left overs in the crate. I recognize how much of discount that is from the MSRP but that being said should I fight for anything more and if so WHAT? I don't think Im gonna get them to lower that price any more, so Im thinking about going the accessories route. If so what accessories do you think I am more likely to weasel them out of?

Hello Warrior riders and fans, I myself like the Warrior but can't decide between it and the Aprilia Shiver 750. I'm a newb rider as well, need to take the safety course. I drive a stickshift vehicle which may or may not help when it comes time to ride, but I'm told it's a plus. I know this forum is probably a little slanted toward the Warrior but I want to know what all of you who wish to contribute to my post think of it, from novice to experienced rider. Been gone a while, was big on here back in 04-05 when i bought a 05 midnight warrior, sold it and when my back got better i went back to harleys for a while then sold out and just bought a 06 roadlinner.I am really loving this thing, should have bought one before now. Just stopped by to see if any of the old gang was still around, is there a members list to look thru?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what your drive belt reading is on your belt gard. Mine is about in center between line's 3-4 and they move about 2 notches up and down.

Fuel Capacity Blues

I ride an 08 that I bought about 6 months ago. Fantastic Bike. It was worth leaving my 87 fazer in the garage. However, I am finding that the advertised fuel capacity of 4 us gallons is not the reality. I can, from topped off to along-the-side-of-the-road, just get 2.7 us gallons in it. Anyone have any idea what is displacing an entire freaking gallon of fuel? The tech guys at the dealership are less than helpful.

On top of this, the dealership did the recall work on the fuel line and since then I have actually dropped from about 35 mpg to about 25.

Has anyone dealt with these problems? Any insights?

Newbie Warrior owner, not to Yamaha

Howdy! Name's Ryan, and I'm a new Warrior owner. She's not my first Yamaha, though. I had one of what I consider to be their original "sport cruisers", an XJ1100. I've got two of them, actually, one black and one maroon. The maroon one is strictly a parts-bike now, though. The black one still goes strong. Anyway, my Warrior is an '06 with the red color scheme... at least for another few weeks. I'm having her repainted custom. I'm doing a Gadsden Flag theme, so the bike will be a yellow-gold color with a rattlesnake coiled around the tank with its head on the front fender and tail/rattle on the rear. I think it'll be pretty sweet when all is said and done.

I went with the Warrior because there was no way on Earth I could step down from the power my XJ's offered me. I'm looking right now for a sissybar and rack to put on her, along with a good looking set of bags and a set of risers to bring the handlebars back a little more. I've still got the stock muffler and am mulling over whether I want to swap it out or not.

I just bought a 2007 Warrior. 2 tone silver and grey. It has the vance and hines big shots and a power commander. It also had new tires. I got it for $5700 which I thought was pretty good. I traded in a 2004 ZX-10R, so I'm trying out cruiserland. I took the woman out and she had fun. She wouldn't get on the old bike, so that's a big upgrade. She told me my sportbike was too juvenile. Anyway. I'm excited about working on this over the winter. It has a few blems to tidy up. I'll also have to see what kind of mods I need to add.

Hello everyone, although I've been around the forum for a long time, I haven't had a Warrior (or any bike) for over 5 years. I recently got the bug to buy a new bike and am trying to convince "the boss" to let me. I've been on the fence between the FJR, Midnight Roadliner, and a Midnight Warrior. Although it will probably be at least 6 months before I'm able to buy one, coming back to this forum has solidified my choice in getting another Warrior. I'm now living in Atlanta, and am looking forward to gettin' back in the saddle.

I recieved my new gates drive belt today and installed it. Its been 3weeks since i rode it, it felt good to be on the old girl again. I was kindof nervious when I first started riding it, didnt want anything to go wrong. It only took about 45 min from start to finish.

PC III

Ok guys the only mods I have on my bike are bubs jug huggers, and Bak. I am wanting to know should I buy a PCIII. I have looked through the forum and the decision is split on if i should do the PCIII or the ECU bump. The only thing about the ecu is I realy dont like cutting important wires. I had a bad experience before (fried a computer in my 96 ford f350 powerstroke). Will I see a noticeable difference in power with the PCIII. Any advice will be helpful.

Lowering kits

I already have the barons lowering kit and i want my bike lower could i put the barons adjustible lowerink links on there too. I mostly ride solo but sometimes i take the little lady for a ride. I weigh around 168 and she weighs about 115-120. So your looking at about 300lbs max.

I would love an air ride kit but its gust not in the budget rite know.

Great bikes these Warriors, the one I've just bought has blown me away! A great site to share & support also! It's a pity Yamaha only marketed Warriors for a short while here in the UK, I think they might have shot themselves in the foot there!

Anyway, back to the daft questions for you...

1/ Being one of the seemingly few folks who like the original bazooka I've refitted mine, which the previous owner had kept, but I don't understand why there is a small hole on the underside of the silencer at the header end with exhaust pressure coming out. Did the first owner slip in his garage with a drill in his hand, has a plug gone astray, should I block it or just think "sod it" & go for a ride instead of wasting time thinking about it?

2/ Is there a lighter set of clutch springs available that will still handle the power? (Bad wrist!)

3? I'm absolutely no mechanic but am I correct in thinking that some of the torque settings in the service manual are somewhat over enthusiastic in a thread stripping, bracket busting sort of way & to be read with a good dose of common sense?

Newb from NC considering a Warrior

Figured I'd join to learn up.. Having owned a couple harleys.. 1990 Heritage, 2004 Fatboy.. I've got the itch again, but found a local deal possibly on a 2002 Warrior so naturally I did the search for where the info was. Here I am.

So in my hour or so search thanks to this site, I knew enough to ask about the recall work on the transmission (without knowing too much about the parts involved)...

The bike is a 2002 with 12k miles.. Priced mid $5k.. Looks to be in great condition. Should I? hehehe.. I imagine the answers would be different here than over at hdforums. :) I've been considering a dyna of some flavor for a while.. Street Bob, etc. Except I knew the reputation of this 1700 Yamaha motor and thanks to youtube, a guy can actually hear one.. yay.. Not to shabby at all I'd say. Nothing like a single-pin crank push-rod V-twin.

So I may or may not end up with a Warrior or Yamaha at all.. Please excuse me if I should call them "Star" instead.. hehe.. I still look for the three tuning forks. :) From the looks of this particular bike though.. Looks like a lot of fun and made to handle far beyond the typical scoot you'd have a big twin in. We shall see.

I think that price is pretty decent.. Especially being conditioned to harley prices.. Your thoughts advise, suggestions.. All welcome.

HC pistons

Hi all, I recently purchased a brand new 2007 leftover Midnight Warrior.

I live in Warren County NJ. Lot of nice roads here.

So far the bike is stock except for the tall OEM risers and drag bar that I've added.

I'm looking to pull the trigger on a Vance & Hines Pro Pipe 2 into 1 and the V&H FUELPAK.

Bike is too quiet. I need to be able to hear the exhaust but don't want something too loud or obnoxious.

Nice mellow deep tone is what I'm after and a litle performance gain.

Any advice on this pipe would be appreciated.

I'm probably gonna go the route of Corbin Dual Tour with passenger backrest so the wife will be comfortable on all day rides.

A Cobra luggage rail to carry a bag.

I just thought I would introduce myself since I have been hanging around for a couple of weeks now. I just picked up my first Warrior this last friday and absolutely love it! It is a 2002 in the Burgandy red color. The previous owner did a lot of customizing that I love and wish I could take credit for myself. It has a Tricky air-ride suspension, 260 rear tire, chopped rear fender, Samson Shogun exhaust, PCIII, led taillights, side mount license plate holder, 4" risers, and a bunch of others I cant think of right now. I used to own Buell, so this is my first cruiser style bike and I couldnt be happier with it. I love the torque and the sound of the exhaust. I would like to tweak the PCIII though and need to find a map for the setup that I have, but I will post that in the maps wanted section. Well, thats all for now, I hope to meet a bunch of helpful people here and learn a ton.
