My 19 year old son is actively shoping for his first bike. He rides my warrior alot and likes it. But, he's 6'3" and 280 lbs. So the bike looks kinda small with him on it. Anyway, we went to the dealer yesterday and had a look at what they had. The bike he looked best on was the Roadliner. They have a Midnight version (all black anyway, forks, and all hardware is black chrome kinda finished)that looks sweet. Anyone have comments or opinions on these? The manager says he'll sell him the bike for $10k out the door. Thanks.

O.k. once again I'm looking for you bike gurus for some input. Previous advise pertaining to my warrior has been great. Here's the issue. I'd like to change the handle bar on my 07 warrior. I've seen numerous types of Drag bars with riders, but I am not sure what would go well with my Warrior. I saw a "V-bar aka Whiskey bar" that I love the look. But do not know if it would work propery for the Warrior. I want to be able to keep my instrument panel as is and not have to do any mods to the bars or risers other than feeding control cables ect. ANY SUGGESTIONS on sites, products or anything that could help me make a decision. Thank you all in advance.

I'm thinkin' maybe it's time that I should step down... and maybe retire...

I talked to a friend tonight who's worried about me racing a forum member on the Dragon. I'm thinking that maybe I'll just play it safe and... step down. Yeah, that's what I should do. Time to retire like Rocky did when he was 60. I'm not gonna compete against anyone on the dragon with my dinosaur of a bike. I'll miss the trash-talking with you guys, but I know it's the right, grown-up thing to do by not trying to prove a point. Thanks for the fun,guys!

Yeah. And I'll never have sausage gravy covered biscuits again, either. HO HO HO! Don't be STUPID. Speaking of biscuits, I'm hungry as hell. Burns a lot of calories, riding as fast as I do.

I was wondering if anybody as ever used them to get there bike dyno tuned?? i just got finished installing v-bak, dyna coils, 8mm hot wires, and my pclll usb and needing someone that is good close to my area (northeastern alabama)??? I also tried to install the commander program on my pc and i cant get it to upload or install and its really pissing me off... any help or suggesstions would be gratly appreciated thx in advance Jacob

As some may recall some of us were very worried that the Dog had gone over the edge after he got a B-King this summer.He continually touted his "supreme" riding skills to many of us in private conversations & PM's.Many times he stated that he was the best rider in the Warrior group.His closest friends humored him & hoped that his delusions would pass.Time went by & the Warriordog calmed down & stopped touting his abilities as a rider.To the dismay of many his attitude & bragadocio have returned in spades. Appparently the Dog read the recents posts by our fine members Shag ,Marine Warrior & Garnerwarrior concerning a "spirited "ride they recently had.These posts set Doggus off & he again is advocating that he is the"El Supremo" rider.He announced plans to challenge all comers @ WF5 to timed races on the Dragon with the runnerup getting to spend a night of pleasure with him in the "Dog House" a/k/a Redneck Hotel.(The Dog is sure he will be the "weiner".)Dog has even stated that the Warrior riders are too slow for him & he plans to ride only with the V Max group.Dog,please come to your senses & return to the Warrior Brotherhood.Brother Warriors, try not to be offended by the Dog's rantings.Surely he will come to his senses @ some time.

It seems they make some rather interesting water cooled big bore engine conversions for the Guzzis, 1420cc to be exact, which could make for a fun ride with all of the extra power, 135 horsepower and almost 108 foot pounds of torque. Nice!

Warrior somewhat redeemed itself against Harley today

Had a nice leisurely Sunday ride with a couple of friends today. Me on the Harley, them on Warriors. One of them was MarineWarrior (Jim) who I've raced a couple of times in the past. I think y'all might know that story. Today we raced from a dead stop and I have to say he took me off the line and pulled away in first and second gear. I hit the rev limiter in both first and second gear today during the race which didn't help, but even if I'd done everything just right I'm sure he would have had me in the beginning. Things started the change around third gear, and by fourth I was catching up fast. By the time we were doing 80 mph my bike was pulling considerably better and I was able to pass him in the end. Afterwards we agreed he would likely win in 1/8 mile drag race but that I'd get him in a 1/4 mile drag race. From a 70+ mph roll-on the his Warrior couldn't begin to keep up. I can live with that. I have to give the Warrior credit where it's due. Good race, Jim.

I figured I would start a project thread here that I could update throughout the year as my work progresses.

I am a little upset at myself because I didn't shoot any pics of the bike as I bought it. I will get some pics of how it is now tommorrow. My Dad and I bought it out of a friends salvage yard but it has a clean title and is mostly there. Only things missing are things I was going to get rid of anyway. It is a 1979 sx650sf so it came with disc brakes all the way around and the aluminum wheels. I stripped a bunch of clutter off of it today and changed the oil. Compression is excellent and I put new NKG plugs in it. Tried to start it but no such luck. Sounded like it wanted to but just couldn't do it. got a couple of nice 1' flames out of the exhaust though. LOL. Took the carbs off and stripped them completely apart and found that the float bowls had quite a bit of grit in them and some of the passageways in the carb where full af dirt and cobwebs. I am going to clean them up real good this week and out them back together. I also cut out all of the old wireing harness, it was a cluster fck anyway. I will either make a custom harness of buy a new harness and strip it down.

I had no intension of rebuilding the motor right now but after seeing the carbs I may end up having to. I am going to give it another shot though. If I can just get it to run for a minute I will be satisfied enough to start cutting the frame up. I will deal with the motor later.

I am going to put a hardtail with a 4-5" over wheelbase stretch. This will also lower the bike. Thought about putting a 200 tire on it but want to stick with the skinny tire bobber look. I have a wide tire on my Warrior anyway. I will probably end up putting a DNA springer front end on it eventually. I am going to make it as bare bones as possible. Just the neccesary stuff will be on it.

This guys isnt finished but this is pretty much what I am going for. I want some apes on it though.

Just picked up a new winter project. 1971 honda cl 350. this was hondas first attempt at a "dual sport" bike. I would say I got a decent deal on it I picked it up for $400. it has its issues so I will probably try and ride it around the neighborhood if i can get it fired up and then park it and start pulling it apart. here are some pics

While I was showing my ICONIC Vmax in the Star tent at the Indy Motogp I was aproached by some magazines that where interested in doing a feature on my bike. For several reasons I went with 2 wheel tuner. So a couple months ago I did a photo shoot at Deals Gap.

The article is in the December issue. I still have not seen it. Hopefully it will be on the racks here soon. Every other magazine has their Dec. issues out but for some reason the 2wt is late here.

I got it from a guy that didn't really ride it. It's a 2002 pit bull style. 6000 miles on it for 7k. 107in. motor, 6 speed tranny. Buddy of mine has one says it should go 150mph. It is at my mechanics until tomorrow. Oil change, brake fluid change, new battery, clean the carbs, stuff like that. I hope to be riding tomorrow night. Beautiful bike, should be lots of fun to ride. Anyone else have one?

A reliable source tells me that Big Dog Motorcycles had a new large layoff on Monday. As you remember the company stopped production of new bikes back in August, then started again production in October for two weeks then stopped for the undetermined future. I also learned that the company attorney has left – This coming week Harley-Davidson will begin the process of selling MV Agusta the Italian manufacturer that they bought for 70 million euros only 14 months ago. The 2 interesting parts of the story are: 1- that Claudio Castiglioni, MV Agusta former owner, wants to give his opinion on the potential buyers. And current MV Augusta Chairman supports his request. Does it mean that Castiglioni would like to buy the company with the help of new investors? I think so. 2- It seems that there is already a line-up of investors and manufacturers ready to bid to acquire the Italian manufacturer. Will Harley make a profit on the sale? I think so, too. And the dollar being lower against the euro than 1 year ago it will boost the potential profit -

Harley-Davidson Soon On The Big And Small Screen… And On Your Smart Phone…And In Video Games.

100% of the population knows the Harley-Davidson brand, but only 3 percent of U.S. consumers own a motorcycle. So, Harley-Davidson is starting a new communication strategy using entertainment to - as Dino Bernacchi, Director of Advertising, Promotions and Entertainment for Harley-Davison states - ”sensationalize the excitement and thrill of riding to the point of moving people to check the brand out”. Harley, like many other major brands, has used in the past “product placement” in movies, a technique consisting of paying a production company to use/show your products in a film.

But Harley has decided to use this technique as the core of their new marketing push. Of course, it includes non only big screen movies but also TV series, documentaries and video games. According to Harley marketing department, 15 to 20 million individuals in the US would have the desire to buy a motorcycle. In parallel to this strategy, Harley-Davidson is perfectly aware that they need to communicate to younger people under 35 and to have culturally-relevant messages to women , African Americans and Hispanics. For example the domestic Hispanic market is very fast-growing, four times the rate of the general population. For the younger generation SMS (phone text messages) is an excellent medium for marketing and mobile subscribers are interested and receptive to reading offers on their phones. As a matter of fact text messaging has increased 60 percent year-over-year (source Mobile Marketing Association).

So, from now expect Harley products and messages to pop up where you never saw them before, to see Harley reducing or abandoning classic media exposure in print magazines where there are no new readers to convince to ride their bikes and to leave radio that the young generation is not listeing to. Expect to see more and more the brand and its bikes showing up on audio/video digital media (movies, series, documentaries, web, blogs, social networks, smart phones, games), etc. And these new techniques will come not only from the factory but also directly from its dealers. Something new and fresh from Harley-Davidson. It was time that they realize that demographics have radically changed that there is a media revolution going on since 20 years and that audiences have shifted to brand new communication means.
