Powder coating rims?

I have been thinking of powder coating my rims black since my DIY 240 mod last year. I know that I have had some small chips to my powder coated controls most likely from rocks kicking up off the road. My question is.....Is a powder coated wheel a durable coating? How is it with scratching? I don't want them to look like crap in a year. I am torn because I love the looks of the bikes that have the black rims and think I would look awesome with my blacked out parts, but I also like the current rims for my bike with the brushed stripes and other brushed parts on the bike. Ok, What does everyone else think? Black or Stock?

Winter Mods?

What winter mods is everyone planning? Might be nice to know who is doing what so those of us doing similar things can collaborate, work with vendors for better deals, and minimize the amount of redundant questions we force the "old guys" (Alan, Mike, Woody, etc.) to (re) answer.

I was planning on doing a PR 110 kit including pistons, cams, valves, heads, etc. but I've been shamed by my wife into spending that $$ remodeling the kitchen. What kind of B.S is that? After all, who needs kitchen cupboards - that's what the dishwasher is for!! She insists the kitchen has to be re-done in time for her daughters graduation. I countered that we can put my warrior in the kitchen and no one will even notice the ratty old kitchen cabinets!

In any event here is what I'm doing this winter:

moving coils from under the tank to the left side on a plate, along with moving the ignition switch
Horn and rear brake master cylinder cleanup.
After market head light / tach relocate.

Aftermarket bars

I just picked up a set of 1 1/2" drag bars off ebay and was looking them over. Just eyeballing them, it looks like the ends of the risers are off. One looks to be at least 1/8" longer than the other, maybe more but definitely not as much as 1/4". I've never changed out bars before (pretty new to modding in general), is this the norm or are the bars messed up? The bars are pretty beefy and I wouldn't think they would flex or have much give but I just don't know. Any opinions or advice would be much appreciated before I try to install them. If I should return them, I'd like to do it in the condition they were sent to me so the seller doesn't say the defect was due to my attempted install. Thanks in advance.

Found an '06 for sale here in Florida.
Seller claims it's a limited edition and the paint job came straight from the factory.

I didn't know there were limited edition Warriors sold.

Can the Warrior be made to tour - two up?

Thinking of buying another Warrior, sold an '04, after looking at some VStar touring bikes, 950 and 1300. These bikes just don't do much for me and I am used to HP with a Concours 14 and FZ1 in the garage. Found a very nice '02 Warrior with 3K miles for $5500. Any way this bike can made to do shorter tours, 1000 miles or so, two up? Looks like Corbin and Mustang make decent seats for the purpose but what about bags ( no not Corbins at $1700)? And suspension bits, upgrade or can the stock parts be adjusted to work. Really like the attitude, power and one-of-a-kind-look of the Warrior but she got to be serviceable and can't have three bikes. Can this beast take on the open road - comfortably and securely for the wife and I.

Just bought a 02 Warrior on Fri and did some work to it over the weekend to give it my own personal touch. Original owner put the nitrous system on it but not sure if I will ever use it, pretty fast as is!! What a great machine lots of custom stuff done to bike. Let me know what you think?

Painting a bike

I am wondering how hard it would be to paint a warrior. I'm not talking about airbrushing skulls and flames, just clean lines. Maybe a Pearl white with light blue designs of some sort. What is you alls input? I will practice on an old tank from a junk yard not use my bike as the practice.... It couldnt be THAT hard...can it? I can not find anyone that does paint around here, That will do it reasonable anyway. I live around Lake City Fl, do any of you guys know someone around here? Or have any of you painted your own bikes? Thanks..

weld beads removed and powder coat

anybody have a great shop preferably on the west coast (save on shipping cost) that they would trust to remove my weld bead on my weld up wheel and do the powder coating. I don't have any local shops that will touch it and only one shop that will powder aluminum wheels. Would have had kosman do it but they don't do the powder coating, and I was not sure if I was going to keep it or have it removed so i wanted to check it out first. thanks

Floorboards Pictures

I've been searching thru the galleries looking for pictures of floorboads. Does anyone have floorboards that are currently still being sold on the market on their bike that they may share pictures of? It looks like Cobra isn't making them for the Warrior any longer. I currently have the Yamaha minifloorboards but I am looking for something large so I don't have to ride pigeon toed and with my feet a little further back. I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Wow... I feel like a newbie all over again! Haven't been on here in like 2 months and feel out of the loop. Hopefully I'll have internet at my place next month. Needless to say the wifey has been happier for she's seen me a lot more the past 2 months haha.

Any big projects I've missed out on?? What's new??

So I need some advise... The more I stare at the pics of my bike (can't ride)... the more it seems like it doesn't flow right. So here's my solution. I'm going to cut about 2"-3" off the risers and go with more of a cruiser style bar. Dberman's bike was the inspiration for me to transform my baby but I'm going for more of the gothic look but would like to still keep the natural streamline look like his bike.

Loss of all power and lights while on the highway

I had a funny experience on the warrior on the way home from work the other day. I was headed home on the superslab when the bike started to run a bit rough. I have only had it a few weeks, so thought maybe the gas light was not coming on and I was low on gas. I rolled the throttle a few times and it got moving pretty good so I started thinking it was not gas. I was moving the the right lane to get off at the next off ramp but figured I'd risk it and keep going. My exit was about 2-3 miles down. Just as I passed the exit the bike completely lost power, and all the lights and dash shut down. I was in the left lane now so I coasted to the middle of the highway. I hit the starter a few times, but nothing. No lights on the dash either. I was now backing up traffic since everyone was staring at me. I left the helmet on as long as I could while looking at the bike since I thought I may become a human pinball with all the traffic. Luckily, no one decided to start texting while driving and run me over. I pulled the seat off and started digging around and realized the screw for the battery ground was off, and the ground and power commander ground wire were both just hanging there. Luckily the screw was still there. Some nice guy in a minivan named Mike had pulled over, and he even had a phillips. I tightened everything down and the bike started right away. The whole thing only took me a minute or two to solve. Actually, Mike pointed out the power commander ground that I did not see at first. It all worked out pretty well.

Big city Thunder Baffles & other ?'s

My Warrior has Samson Shortys with no baffles. I was thinking about getting the Thunder Monster Baffles instead of the Samson ones. What is your take on the Thunder Baffles?

Does anyone know of custom levers for the Warrior other than the wide style. I have seen some cool ones for Harley and Honda but none for our bikes. Can I get the Honda VTX levers to work?

What happens when you add a flip n grind to adjustable lowering links???

You get the most bad @$$ drop you can think of. I started out with adjustable lowering links, then did the flip n grind on my friends bike. He said itmade hissuspension very stiff, so I wanted to do it too and figured I would adjust the links and raise it up some afterwards. I took some pics of it slammed, and took a test ride. Now I love the ride so much that I don't want to raise it. :( It rubs the chain guard when going over bumps, and also I can't turn corners for beans. But it finally feels like I am sitting low. The chopper feel I have been trying to get this whole time.

I did notice the suspension way more stiff than before so I am happy about that, but it still hits the chain guard on bumps.

I am trying to talk my wife into letting me buy the 1000lb spring so I can keep it low.

Help with price on new 2007 Warrior

I'm working on a deal for a new 2007 Warrior. It's a brand new leftover, no miles, no owners, etc. The dealer has the bike listed in their ads for $8999, and after talking with them for a bit the most recent offer is $9719 out the door. Here's the break down:

$8699 for the bike

$293 for prep and assembly

$600 freight charge

$127 documentation fee

$25.50 registration fee

Does this sound like a fair deal? This is my first time buying a new vehicle and I'm trying to get the best deal possible. Any tips on getting a better deal than this?

Importing A Bike to Australia

Hey all, i was wondering if any body has had any dealings with importing/exporting their bikes. Warriors in Australia are fetching between $14-$19k AUD(about 12-16 USD) and i think i can get a better deal in the states. The bikes should be compliant here no worries, my main concern is having someone in the USA whom i can trust to get a bike to me. Any suggestions? Cheers. Stumpdog.

Went for a ride and the weather was great.. It was in the 70's here in NC and rode about 400 miles.. I just got a 2008 warrior and now know for sure it was the right choice.. I have ridden all different types of bikes from dirt, sport, cruises 3 wheelers and four wheelers but the warrior is so smooth and nimble it really surprised me.. Smoothest cruiser I've ever ridden and not as quick as a sport bike but in now way disappointed..

If only next weekend can be over 50 degrees I will be out again for another 300-400 miles....
