dealer won't do recall, what do I do

I am in the US Army, I was stationed in Hawaii for a while back in the early 2000's (I know rough life). While I was there I picked up a red '02 rswarrior for a screaming deal and have never had a problem with it. I am new to the sight and have just learned about the recalls that need to be done on her. I called my local dealer and they state it is not an American model so they cannot do the recall. Apparently bikes sold in Hawaii are not distributed by Yamaha America. But I was in the USA and paid good ol' American dollars for her. Shouldn't they have to cover it? By the way Hawaii '02s are the fastest warriors made. Thanks for any insight!

02/03 Transmission Recall

When I bought my warrior, I did not know to ask about this recall and the thief at the stealership did not give me any information on the bike except that some little grandmother only rode it to church every Sunday and never exceeded the speed limit. Anyways, is there anyway to tell if this recall has been done?

I dropped my bike off on 10-28-09, and when I called today they told me it will be Saturday or Monday before they are done? Is this normal????

I know the one recall is in-depth, but almost 2 weeks??? These guys are killing me....

Well,

The dealer did wind up charging me 79 bucks to install the HC Pistons. I dont really mind because this thing runs like a raped ape! Now, he did charge me 60 bucks to change the oil. The thing that sucks is that I JUST CHANGED THE OIL BEFORE I TOOK IT IN! I woulda thought that an oil change would come with the recall... Anyone else have to pay for an oil change w/ the recall?

This has a list of all recalls for all model years on the Warrior. I have a couple questions:

1) Mine shows two recalls for mine: 'VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL' and the 'ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING' recall (the pick-up coil). Does anyone know how I would find out if my bike already had the recalls done on it? I bought it from a dealer, shouldn't they have done all recalls before they sold me the bike?

2) Do you just need to call an authorized dealer to have them fix the recall?

Stupid questions I know, I'm new to this whole game...thank you all very much!

And the dealership just called and said that it is going to cost me around 80$ to have the HC pistons put in. Is this outrageous? I was under the impression that this would be free...

Top Speed reduced after Mods??

I recently had high compression pistons and a taller fifth gear installed. Now my top end seems to be less! Is it because the speedometer reads slower with the taller 5th? Now I can barely make it to 180 Kms/hr where as before I had hit 200.

Also, when going with the High Comp Pistons, should I also have a high lift cam to get the most benefit from them? What kind of performance change should I expect with just the High Comp Pistons without the cam?

I have Cobra 2-1'a, Dyno Jet Power Commander 3, K&N open air

I recently had my warrior in for the trans recall and found out my warrior with only 5k miles has already worn out the Pulley shaft and front pulley - After reading on here I am not very happy that this is a problem that many of us have experienced -- After only 5k miles the pulley nut should not be losing itself and causing the shaft and pulley to strip. I believe with the CPS recall it all started with members complaining to Yamaha – I would like to do it again

Hy guys!

Just bought an Titanium Warrior 2004 Europe (2002 US model) in second hand.
This bike has about 9000 Miles and its in perfect condition...at leat at the first site!

I just read about the Gear Recall and Fuel Tank. (PANIC!)

Can you please Help me regarding this issue? Does this model has any more defects?
I will have to contact Yamaha Europe to see what will be the best way to correct these problems, since this is an US model that was imported in very limited quantities to Europe.

Would like to have the maximum info so if my bike needs assistance i wish they can do all the replacemens at the same time avoiding going back to the technical services.

Just seeing whats up on the recall that has something to do with the throttle sensor. I just got a letter from Yamaha on this lasty week, and havent really had a chance to look it over. Have any of you gotten this serviced? Or had this work done? Was it a pain and how long did it take to have the dealership do it?

hey all, I just got a call from my dealer saying that 08-09 Warriors have a recall on the return fuel line....has anyone else heard of this or had t done. I moded my fuel line when I did the left side clean up. It this the line they are referring? Let me know. thx.

I am thinking of taking my bike in to have the recall work done on it,It is an 02 it already has the tranny recall done I am not sure what all the rest of them are but I am wondering what questions I should ask the dealer about how they are going to do them and all I know I heard of some horror stories about how some recalls have been done and I just want to be safe and cover all that. thanks

Fourth Gear Recall

I own a 2007. I just got my bike back from having the engine cases replaced because one of them had a hair line crack in it and it was leaking oil. This is another long story. To my surprise while the bike was in the shop for that repair they replaced all the gears. They told me that there was a recall on fourth gear. I never received any notice from Yamaha on this.

Lack of TPS recall effecting fuel/air?

I know I really need to get my recalls done, but with horror stories (and the horrible local dealer) I have been waiting until I can get somebody reliable to do it. I also need to get a custom tune for my PCIII. There hasn't been anybody within 3-4 hours of me to get it done is the last several places I have lived. That being said...

I swear my bike has been running richer and richer over the last year. I have also noticed in the last few months that my bike is stalling (what I suspect is TPS related) a lot more...pretty consistantly now. Does anybody know if these could be corrilated? Maybe the TPS tells the PCIII where on the map it is?

Not too long ago, after my move, my plugs were so caked with carbon that they wouldn't even spark. I need to get something done about this soon. I am going to have to break down and have the recalls done here...just for safety (had a close call the other day because of a stall).

I've had High Compression pistons installed and now my tank goes on reserve at 110 kilometers or 70 miles! It shouldn't be that bad should it??

5th gear mod

does anyone know which 5th gear to buy for this mod?if you look at the break down of the tranny there are 2 gears.one is a pinion gear which is 30 teeth and the other is called a wheel which is 24 teeth.or do you need both of them.they list seperate prices for each gear so i wasnt sure if you had to replace both because i fgured they would sell them in a set. thanks. zman.

Bike died today CPS failure?

Today I was running 80-85mph on I-235 in Des Moines, and it just dies. I quickly grab the clutch and dodge the semi behind me, and immediately think CPS failure. I coast across the interstate and stop the bike and turn it off. I turn the bike back on and have no check engine light and no codes. The bike will start, idle, and rev perfectly fine, but as soon as I shift into 1st it will die. I repeated this several times, and ended up pushing my bike 1/2 a mile to a parking lot and catching a ride back home. After work I returned with my truck to pick up the bike, and it started and I was able to ride it around the parking lot and up into the truck. I had the dealer order both TPS and CPS recall parts, but I'm less convinced it's the CPS now, do any of you with experience on CPS failures have any input?

I just picked up my new warrior a couple months ago from the dealer and am seeing all the recalls. Is this something the dealer needed to do. Although I don't want to bet my life they had it done, is there a simple way I can find out if necessary recalls were done on my bike? Thanks in advance.

I recently purchased a 2005 Yamaha Midnight Warrior and discovered by called my local yamaha stealership, that none of the recalls have been done.

I have read some threads about stealerships doing half-a$$ed work. What do I need to look out for and make sure I let the stealership know that I DON'T want done.

Hi Warriors,

My 2002 Warrior has K&N Big Air, Cobra 2 into 1, High Comp Pistons, Overdrive 5th gears and Power Commander 3 and I now have a top end speed of maximum 180 kms/hr, and goes on reserve at 110 - 140 Kilometers.

Looking for answers to the fuel economy problem and if anyone has reached top speeds with these type of upgrades.

just called the shop today to get the tps recall done. they said there was a new recall on the COIL PICK UP. have you guys heard about this one or is it old news.

Do I need a TPS replacement?

I own a 07 Midnight and I already did the Pick-up Coil / Crankshaftp Position Sensor Recall on the first maintenance (600 miles).

Right now it has 2k miles.

Last week I was downshifting coming to a red light and the bike stalled.

Today it happened again when slowing down.

A friend told me that he had two recalls done in his 06 Midnight, the pickup coil & the TPS.

The dealership only did the pick-up coil on mine.

Do I need a TPS replacement?
