    oil change

I am doing an oil change on the warrior. I removed the oil filter and drain plug and was able to get oil to drain. when I went to fill the bike back with oil, the oil will not go down the fill hole where the dipstick is located. Any suggestions or ideas why i cant seem to refill. I was only able to get 1quart of oil in before I could not get anymore in.

Did you remove BOTH drain plugs? The warrior has two of them.

    Re: oil change

How much oil did you get out? How much did you put back in? If you got approx 4qts out it should be pretty much drained. If you didn't, did you drain the oil out of both drain plugs? When you refill put 2.5 qts in the oil tank, put the dipstick back in and run the bike for a min or so. Then put in the other 2 qts in the oil tank.

I did my oil today for the first time since buying the bike last August.  I followed the manual and removed both drain plugs.  But I only got about 3 L to drain out.  I put 3 L back in.  The manual states that an oil and filter change should require the replacement of 3.7 L.  Have there been issues with air bubbles getting into the system?

    Re: oil change

you could have drained the transfer case oil by unscrewing the wrong drainbolt.  i did that once and learned it the hard way.  look on the site for the right way to change oil. there are good instructions and photos.  if you can't find it i may have it stored somewhere.

I followed the owner's manual and only removed the 10 mm and forward 17 mm bolts.  I did not know about the rear 17 mm bolt.  I did replace the filter.  I'll probably run it with the 3 L of new oil and 2 L of old oil (which I only ran for about 2000 miles, but I've had the bike nine months now) for a couple thousand miles then change it all out.  Is that a bad idea?

Here's what Warrior_Dave wrote on the subject:

Both oil drain bolts are 17mm. The 10mm bolt is a oil pressure sensor point. The 10mm bolt is the wrong one. The correct bolt sits higher up and is also 17mm.

    John,

Thanks for the info.  I didn't think about the oil filters.  That's a great list.  I rode today and found the oil tank bolt after I got home.  I'll probably do a complete change at the end of the summer.  I didn't get that many miles out of the dealership's oil anyway,  but I rode it often enough that it was never parked for more than two weeks through the winter.

Wow, you guys and this site are great. Just did my 1st oil change on my warrior since I bought it late last year. Took less than 20 minutes, found all the right bolts and didn't even burn myself. Thanks to this site and all of the useful information and pictures it was a piece of cake.
