How to do flip and grind?? (pegs)

Sorry guys about beating this to death, I've done some searches and haven't found too many good pics or instructions on how to do it. I grinded off the heel guard on the right peg, and know I just have to flip the pegs to lower them, but I think I still need to do some grinding, cause the peg itself does not fold back in when I flip the bracket (obviously cause it's upside down). I tried swapping peg from the left side around and no luck. Before I spend too much time trying to figure it out, I figured I would take the easy way out and hope for some pics and some instruction. I'm heading out camping all weekend so if I don't respond for a couple days, Thanks in advance!! [:D]

Supprised I still had this file, did it about 4 years ago.

Stock passenger peg mod for Warrior.

I performed the folowing mod on the passenger pegs today and it moved the pegs down about 3 inches and ahead about 3 inches.

The peg mounting plate and peg will remain on their repective sides but the mounting plate will be rotated 180 degrees and the stock mounting holes will be used.

    Right side.

1- Remove peg with mounting bracket.

2- Remove peg mounting bolt and collect 2 flat plates, ball bearing, spring, & bushing. Store items as right side.

3- Using a whizz wheel ( cut off wheel ) slice through the welds attaching the wire guard to the mounting bracket and remove the guard. Sand, grind, file or whatever to smooth the back side of the bracket.

4- Grind the two 90 degree corners of the peg mounting tabs to a radius to match the factory radius. Thease tabs are the ones welded to the attaching bracket.

    Left side.

    1- Same as 1 above

2- Same as 2 above except store items as left side.

3- Cut off triangulated guard about 1/8 from welded tab, file finish as necessary.

    4- Same as 4 above

Next, Get 8 of 7/16 lock washers and paint the mounting plates and lock washers with rattle can semi gloss black. Some alternator spacers will work or whatever. The lock washers were in the drawer.

Reinstall fold over pegs to mounting plates.

Right side, Using the stock mounting bolts install the mounting plate with one 7/16 lock washer between the bike frame and the boss on the mounting plate. This should give you about 3/16 clearance between the mounting plate and the oil tank.

Left side. You will need 3 lock washers between the mounting plate boss and the bike frame. Heres where I had a problem. The original left side bolts are to short but the right side bolts will work. I could not find any bolts that matched the thread of the Yamaha frame. Temporary solution; I installed 2 of 5/16 X 2" hex heads as through bolts with nuts and locks washers on the back side untill I can find the stock Right side bolts to replace them with.

The job took about 2 hours not counting the ride I took to 4 stores looking for metric hardware.

The wife came out and did a "test sitting" (no ride) and liked it a lot. She's 5' 5 and with the stock seat on my scoot her knees were about even with her butt joints. When she had sat on it in stock form she said it reminded her of a trip to the Gynecologist.

NOTE!!! I have a slip on muffler so those of you that still have the stock can on your scoot be sure to check for right side foot clearance.

    Later,

Hey thanks for the info Church. Sounds easy enough. I thought I'd have to grind those tabs a little, but wasn't sure, so I thought I'd better ask before I mangled something!! I'm doing it this week for sure.
