Just went out to see what my stock settings were and when I got the DIAG to come up I could not get it to do anything else. Does the jumper have to be in place for the fuel settings to come up?

As far as I know, you can't. But then again, I'm not the smartest tool in the shed anyway. But as long as your plugs look good than there is no reason to. Heck, even if you get a PC3 the custom map will still correct the adjusted ECU.

You know what's funny... I've been told from a number of different sources that you can actually hard wire the lead to ground and just leave it that way. It's just a safety to keep us dumb Americans from adjusting stuff we're not supposed to. But to answer your question, I don't know. I've always done the jumper method and it always worked just fine. It's quick and easy, so that's what I did.

Those instructions made changing the ECU a breeze! I spent $4.32 @ Home Depot and it took me about 15 mins to do. I checked my plug and it was white but not that bad so I just started off with a increase of 2 on each side. Ill check it again after this weekend and see how it did. 75 degrees and sunny up here in Chi-Town all weekend so ill be on the Warrior ALL weekend! Thanx agian!

This is a great mod, my bike actually had the ECU wire already clipped. I imagine its from when I had my exhaust installed at the dealership and they adjusted my MAF..This is going to save me a boatload of money until I can afford to get my PCIII...thanks!

I haven't messed with my ecu in quite a while - but here's my thread on installing an ECU switch.  You don't even need to unplug the harness to install - piece o' cake!  It's good for frequent changes on the fly to get the best adjustment you can.  Hit the switch, adjust, switch it back.

Well after doing the v-bak install and struggling with the coils for a bit I was leary about doing the ECU but after doing it today and making a few test runs around the block I'm really happy with the results. Only took 15 min the first time with making the jumper and everything and the second time just making adjustments was a cinch. Easy easy. Great Gonna run for a week and check the plugs.

These are certainly good directions, I used them myself, but be careful on what you expect the ECU bump to do. It'll effect idle and very low throttle position only from what I could tell on the dyno. There is no subsitute for a PC-3. You could get away with the "bump" for awhile but I would not rely on it for long. It's not worth risking the whole bike for a $300 part and a $250 tune. JMHO. Here is a link to my previous thread on this.

Quick question my ecu has already been adjusted for bub hugger pipes with baffles and spped star intake. I removed baffles should I add fuel or take away and about how much. Also when I was checking my ecu I found pin 27 removed from connecter. What will this cause it wire is always unpluged from ecu. They did not cut wire and add quick connects.
