Mirrors, that show me more than my elbows?

I'm looking for some affordable mirrors that not only look good, but will allow me to see what's behind me instead of my arms. I think 1/2" to 1" longer than OEM would do the trick. I've seen some stuff in catalogs, but don't want to pay $89 PER mirror. Any suggestions?

*note: I swear I'm using search, but just can't find answers to all my questions.

Good luck with that. People have some favourites but they all seem to have some bit of suck in them.

Either they are waaaaay too expensive and just ok.
They are waaaaay too expensive and don't help at all.
They are crappy and cheap and don't work for shizz.

The list goes on. I dunno what the solution is to be honest. I guess you could use the phrase "mirrors" in the search function, sit back, grab a beer and reads tons of pages.

Those bar end mirrors seem very cool but they are pretty damned spendy.

    Good luck....

You could install some V MAX mirror stems & use your stock mirrors. Should raise them up the inch or so your looking for. Its a direct bolt on.

If your using stock risers you could put some 1" spacers under them or install taller risers.

    Hi BHW,
I think that the key is not so much the mirror, but the length of the mirror stem. The longer the stem, the more you can see behind you. I used to have some Aeromach mirrors with the Viper stem that was 4" High x 6.5" Long that worked pretty good. They were not cheap but you could get a good view beyond your sholders. I have since gone with an Arlen Ness Four Point mirror that looks great but doesn't work with crap (did I mention that it looks great?).

I guess that if you can't find a good mirror, then at least get a good helmet ;-)

get kuryakyn magnum plus mirrors. they are about $100 for both and they work. make sure you get the convex mirrors though. good luck!

There are some excellent mirror stems made by EMGO, they are identical to the stock mirror stems just longer. I had a pair that I used on my Warrior before I sold it, I believe Gary (SpearWarrior) bought them from me on this forum. They did a fine job of getting the mirrors further out and clear of your elbows, at least for me. You ought to be able to pick up a pair pretty reasonable. They work perfectly with the stock mirror heads.

My Virago had the same exact mirrors as the Warrior, just longer stem.

I have the Yami billet mirrors and I must say I have great looking shoulders and elbows. They worked okay until I put different risers on the bike.

I guess I had better wait until I put new bars on. It would be a waste of $ to put new mirrors on if I plan on losing the stock bars.

buy the ones from J C whitney that look just like the stockers. When they arrive screw the rods out and put them in yor stock mirrors. They are about inch longer than the stockers and they are identical in every other way. Check my gallery and see if you can tell they have been changed. It is a cheap and perfect fix.

EXACTLY...I got them from Phats....I thought the price was great for what you get, it's a nice big mirror and the convex is awesome....BIG field of view....A little more vibration than stock but I went with the Yamaha TT Fat Bars at the same time so that might be the difference.

did you have to get the adapter that they sell with it?

    from Phats site:
"Note: Purchase of mirror adapters is necessary for installation on metric cruisers"

I have the same bar-end mirrors that lagalaxy has (they're CRGs) but they are pricey. There are other bar-ends available that are much cheaper. Just do a search on eBay and you'll see. If looks isn't top priority on your list I would suggest checking them out.
