    Fender eliminator kit ...Watch Out!

This has probably been discussed before. But since everyone is modifying their new '05's it is worth re-posting IMO.

Make sure you zip tie the wires very well under the fender or you could end up with frayed wires like mine. Seems the wires have fallen down from riding and have been rubbing on the rear tire.

The tire had gotten into the plastic connector that attaches to the rear tail light and ground it down pretty good. I would much rather go back with the stock connectors than rig something up, so I just ordered a new harness from Yamaha of Hamilton for $25.00.

Yep, I had nothing but problems with that fender eliminator kit. Got sick of the whole thing, and ripped the entire assembly out.

I threaded the wires as shown and tie-wrapped the LED load resistor to the new bracket when i added the Kuryakn Dual Circuit Mini Bullets and HID license plate bracket. It's important that you reinstall the factory harness into the two existing cable clips on the inside of the fender. I have 5,000+ miles with this arrangement and no failures.

Yea, make sure you zip tie those puppies up there out of the way. No problems here after a year and a half. I check them often just to stay out of trouble.

Do you need a load resistor if you are just using the HID license plate holder? I have one and when I connected it to the factory wiring for the license plate light it kept blowing the fuse.

    Jerry,
No load equalizer/resistor for the HID license plate. You must have a short. The wires should be connected to the Blue & Black wires. Blue is hot and black is ground. The HID are diodes and i believe will work but only one way.
You can trouble shoot the HID with your car battery.

Or go really clean like this.

Ripped off the turn signals, installed a UFO tail light system. Now I have 3 wires, one for the plate light, one for a little led under the fender, and one for the tail light/signals. Nice and clean, ain't nothing gonna rub or catch now.

Oh, don't mind the black gaffing tape, I tend to get carried away with wrapping wires.
